Westmoreland tar and chip road surfacing

I don't know about you, seems like every other road has been tar and chipped. I've waited nearly 6 weeks and with all the heavy rains I thought it would have washed off most of the loose rock chips. Nope took the Shelby out and you could hear rocks hitting the underneath. That's BS.!

Our daily drivers don't pick a thing up since its been over a month when it was done. The Goodyear F1, are like that Schticky lint roller commercial. I cant believe I would ever say Goodyear F1's and sticky in the same paragraph.

I hate having to drive my Mach 1 on those roads. They just did my road today. I almost always ride my bike to work. Tar and chips are real sketchy on a bike. Especially when they get too happy with the chips. It's like a gravel road.

Usually they come back through and sweep them off after a couple weeks. Thats the worst sound ever.

Don't come anywhere around ligonier, they did every road in the borough and township and used 2b gravel not even chips, you should hear that blasting your paint...

Murrysville Road? I've purposely avoided it for the last few weeks and then went that way in my car last Thursday... I was ready to shoot someone.

Yep i saw murrysville road, I drive Pleasant Valley road going to and from work. The rock on murrysville road is migrating the whole way down where the two roads intersect.

Yeah it's definately frickin irratating. Is there anyone on here that can truly explain to me what the point is for them doing it. I'm sure it's some half a** way of fixing something I'm sure

I remember hearing that it can cost 50k to pave a one mile stretch of 2 lane road.

I can believe this if it was an average taken from a longer road job. Renting equipment, traffic control, off duty-cops, workers, materials... Just doing 1 mile would surely be more than 50k.

Oddly enough I actually looked that up yesterday. The article said once the tar and chip are worked into the asphalt it can add as much as 7 years to the durability of the asphalt. It also costs 40% less than actually re paving and has the same durability. The reason so many roads around here are being done at the same time are to hit a narrow window that has high enough outdoor temperatures so the chips and original asphalt bond properly.

I hope they do sweep my road off, its not that bad since it has been around 6 weeks but other cars where pissed I was driving 20mph. Of course once I hit the unchipped road I showed them with some nice posi strips and smoke the car is capable of going a little faster than 20mph

I wasn't going to comment on this because I have been trying to watch what I say and become a better person....but pen dot can suck the snotty end of my phuckstick!!! Seriously here. My phuckkng stickers are gping to be on their third god damn windshield now!!! Broke another one in my super duty due to these assholes that still use 1940's road technology on today's roads. Please, stop phucking our vehicles up.

Side note, I was traveling 30 in a 45 zone and the phucking state truck.came blasting by and.tossed a bunch up. Yeah, broke another windshield. Superduty windshields are $500!!!
