Damn, nice upgrade. I like G8s a lot, but the 'Vette is a big step up.

haha, whenever you like my friend.... speaking of which, since you're off for 2 weeks, i figured you'd want to be working on your race car... not much gonna get done with it sitting at the bus stop

As far as interior and refinement there's no comparison...

As SK360 said, the interior and overall refinement are leaps and bounds better in the C6s. I have driven numerous C5Zs, and I have to say that I personally prefer them to the standard C6 (of course I would rather have a C6Z over a C5Z, but I feel the C5Z to standard C6 a more fair comparison). The LS2s and LS3s I have driven felt nearly identical power wise to my C5, with a slight edge to the LS3. The only reason I prefer the C5Z over the C6 is they seem to have more of an edge to them in stock form, the C6s almost feel too nice and refined to me, not sure how to explain it.

I really don't get why everyone talks about how hard these cars are to work on either, the clutch and trans swap was nowhere near as bad as I expected it to be, and everything else I have done has been fairly straightforward.

On track the car runs similar times to my old fox body which had nearly every suspension part that could be changed, and a blown 302, in nearly bone stock form (suspension is 100% stock down to OE shocks and bushings). Unfortunately the cars have a gold chains and homoerotic stigma (like waving at each other) surrounding them, but they are amazing cars for the money.

I have the "base suspension" and I feel the car is capable of way more then I am at this point. Lots on corvette forum says it handles like a boat in base trim and body rolls but after hammering some back roads today, coming from a GTO and G8, what body roll?

Interested to see how the Z51 feels, this base suspension is quite comfy. Been eyeing up Pfadt Johnny oconnell signature series sways and shocks for the future.

I did crawl under the car today and found out when this car was ordered it was ordered with the optional 2.73 gears vs standard 2.56. 2.73 was included with the A6 Z51 cars but was a rare option on the base cars. Score!

Thanks for the info, I'll keep my eyes open for a base c6 then as well...

It's the typical corvette owner saying they are hard to work on.... They'd rather cut checks then get their hands dirty.

I was under the car eyeing things up last night, sway bars drop out with 6 bolts, shocks drop out with 3, headers look like they would slide right into place etc

Not a Hater as I have one(obviously). That being said change a clutch on one in the garage with jack stands and get back to me. It's no where near as easy as a Mustang. Just sayin'.. ;)

That's how I did mine, garage on jack stands. Harder than a Mustang, but not that bad.
