Not a great win today by any stretch, but it was one of those wins that you need to have a couple times each year if you want to be in the hunt come playoff time.

    Mendenhall looked fantastic to me.

Timmons played a whale of a game.

A Brown didn't show up until the 2nd half, but played solid after that.

Wallace sucked today - played with no heart if you ask me. If this keeps up I don't see him in a Steeler uniform beyond this season.

Harrison is a stud. He was held all day and still managed to put good pressure on Vick.

Is it just me or is Vick the most over-rated player in NFL history? Seriously - the guy is not a winner - plain and simple.

Shady McCoy is the real deal, but our D really stepped up and kept him from being a factor.

The two biggest points I have are these...

We didn't turn the ball over. When a team isn't playing at its best, this is the most critical thing in my opinion.

and the offense stepped up and had the game-winning drive. It is nice to be on the winning end of a game like this.

Cinci lost and the Ravens struggled with the Chiefs today. If we can hang in there and get this thing rolling, we might just have a chance in this division. It will come down to us being able to handle Baltimore. And we play them twice in a 3-week period later this season. Get your popcorn ready!

Mendenhall looked real good. Plus no brace from what I could see.

I agree Harrison looked good also. Timmons was just playing for keeps it seemed

Troy I dunno, that was weird. He was standing there when his calf acted up. Looked like a cramp at first.

Vick has sucked all year. The Browns did it to him week 1 by getting at him early and often. Gets in his head it seems.

    BUT

You forgot a nice detail. No sacks on Ben today.

Good point there. Ben didn't tear it up, and he missed a few big plays, but he took care of the ball, moved well in the pocket, and the O-line kept him clean. The O-line also did a nice job establishing the run game as time wore on. The only knock on the O-line was freaking Colon - he's killing us with holding penalties. Maybe he has been watching too much film on Chris Keomatu??

One more thing. The new refs suck too. That call on Ryan Clark was absolutely ridiculous. They need to modify the "hit on the receiver" penalties so that if a receiver leaves his feet then the defender is given a little more latitude in delivering the hit. The Philly receiver went up for the ball, came down, and got drilled by Clark. In my book that is how you are supposed to play the game. If anything, flag Vick for throwing the ball high and putting his receiver at risk. I know that won't happen, but that is more fair than penalizing the defense for textbook hits.

Nice effort tonight against a pretty strong Cinci squad.

I have to say I was completely surprised at how well the entire team played despite the tons of injuries.

    O-line was REALLY good.

Running game was very good - with J Dwyer and C Rainey.

I think a lot of this credit has to go to Todd Haley - he called a very smart game.

Was it just me, or did Ben really put a TON of zip on a few throws? I recall one 3rd down conversion to Sanders...what a bullet!!

Defense was solid too - smart game called by LeBeau - he gave Ike some help on Green, and it worked great. Holding a potent offense like Cinci to such a low yardage total and 23 minutes of possession - in Cinci - is a nice effort.

Special teams was solid too - would have been MUCH better if we didn't have so many penalties on punt returns.

Talk about a mood change from a week+ ago. The Ravens got HAMMERED today by Houston. Losing Lewis & Webb looks to have hurt them a bunch. We play them twice in a 3-week span...things could get very interesting...and if we are healthy by then you never know...

It is nice to be able to go to sleep after an away game without being pissed off for a change...

I thought the Steelers played a hell of a game after the first 1.5 quarter. Finally saw some spark. But the drops....

IMO they rarely drop the ball on signings. Seriously though, there have been very, very few guys we either traded or didn't resign that went on have good careers elsewhere. Vrabel is one, maybe Holmes but the book is still out on him. We've dumped a bunch of popular players over the years and they seem to fade away after leaving here.
