Weak material? Corrosion? Maybe the engine is getting tougher to turn over from wear and tear?

change the tranny before? Ive seen that happen when the bell housing gets something pinched between it and the engine

Engines don't get tougher to turn over. They get easier.
Its a common thing. Happens to GM a good bit also. I changed many flexplates in my day from that.

Don't know if it's a DD or not, but if it was sitting for a long time... I think it would be tougher to turn over.

Its back on the road. As far as I know, its the original tranny in the truck. And I've driven it just about everyday since I bought it.

Yeah Ron, this is what was wrong when I was thinking about getting rid of it and my mustang. Problem seems to be fixed now. I just hope it won't happen again until April!
