RC Cars and Trucks...Who has them?

OK guys....I used to be into this when I was in my 20's.

I got an itch again to get back into it. I am mainly thinking of getting into a Nitro short course truck.

What are you guys running and what are your opinions of the different trucks/buggies?

Show some pics of your set ups! Whose top dog speedwise? (top mph)

I got an HPI Baja 5B. Not very fast but, its about 3 feet long, weighs about 30 lb, runs a 2 stroke 26cc weed eater engine and will decimate any lawn. lol

Also have Traxxas Nitro Slayer. Its fun but not as fun as the 5B.

I used to have a t-maxx. That was a good all around one, fun off road and you can change out the tires and have fun on the streets too. Relatively cheap to mod and make faster. As for fast I know there's people doing battery upgrades on rustler vxls and doing 65-70.

I heard electrics are actually quicker than nitros. LIPOs and brushless are awesome.

Always wanted to get into racing them from when I watched it on TV as a kid, but my short attention span would wind up being a lot of money invested and cars sitting around getting dusty.

    I have:
    -Traxxas Revo 3.3 (Nitro Truck)
Some upgrades, run around the house and with my brother and nephew who have T-Maxx 3.3 and T-Maxx 2.5. I have also practiced at PRP when they had a Nitro track. Back in the day I had 3 or 4 old style electrics and raced at TC's R/C's in Natorna Heights.

    - Hirobo Sceadu 30 (Nitro Helicopter) = My main flyer
    - Hirobo Shuttle 30 (Nitro Helicopter) = for sale, just posted recently
    - Hirobo Freya 60 (Nitro Helicopter) = Larger helicopter with Governer and 10Channel radio. Bought this for my nephew (he is really good and can flip and fly inverted)
    - Kyosho Nexus 30 (Nitro Helicopter) = under repair and will be sold soon.

I have been into planes off and on as well.

I prefer the Nitro trucks. Yes, newer brushless motors and Lipo batteries make electrics "win" in this hobby, even in planes and helicopters. But I like the fact that you have a little 'engine/clutch/transmission' etc that makes it all go. Plus a trail of white smoke out the back of the Revo and the revving of the engine is just plain cool.

Anyone that knows local (tri-state) buggy races, post them please. I would love to go to events and swap meets.

I used to race back in the late 90's. Think I had an RC10-T2? It's still in pieces here at my house somewhere. Almost got back into racing a couple years ago, but decided to get a traxxas summit to play around with instead. It's been pretty fun and was probably the better way to go since I don't seem to have any free time anymore.

Here's an articulation pic from when I first got it. Make my Hofbrauhaus mug look tiny, I think it holds something like a liter though.

I got involved with RC cars/trucks back in '86. Still have a few from over the years and one that hasn't been made since '87. The money I have spent on this stuff over the years is nuts. So many long gone but what I still have is below. Use to know all the little tricks and crap with motors and batteries. From turns, windings and brush type/shape depending on what you wanted to do. Things have just changed so much with electrics I'd be lost now.

Kyosho Optima, was a 4wd buggy converted into a truck years ago. Chain drive converted to belt drive with front rear ball diffs. This is from mid 80's

Kyosho Ultima Pro, 2wd buggy, carbon fiber chassis. Fast as all hell. I would guesss from early 90's I go it.

Tamiya Juggernaut, big old 4wd/4ws monster truck. One of those I saw it and bought it.

Tamiya Mountaineer, Same as an old Bruiser from 1984 but released again in 1992. Full steel c-channel frame, solid axles front/rear, leaf springs, 3 speed transmission with 4wd being in 1st gear. Uses a giant 750 size electric motor. Think I spent my first paycheck from current company I work for to get it. Always wanted a Bruiser but they were expensive and stopped making when I got into RC. This thing is just cool as hell and fun to mess with using a 4 channel stick radio. Have a plate made for left stick with gate pattern for gear selection

Associated RC10 Team Truck, nitro. Put it together and have never fired it up. Has all the best stuff on it including MV cv axles, rear stinger exhaust. Think I have a .15 engine on it.
