H sounds better with chambered mufflers like Flowmasters. X just doesn't sound right with a chambered muffler to me, too raspy.
X and straight-through like Mangaflow can sound good. Just my opinion.

I had a catted X pipe at one time and didn't like the sound at all. Switched to a catless H pipe and been happy with it. 5.0's just seem to sound better with H pipes.

I can't stand the raspiness of the X. Even on the 4.6 there is too much rasp w a X pipe.

I prefer the X-pipe sound wise. Doubt either would make a massive power difference on a street 5.0 given same size piping.

X-pipes are way to raspy for my taste. I think H-pipes sound better.

The '90 LX 5.0 I had a few years ago sounded fantastic - shorty headers, prochamber & Flowmasters. Dang it sounded great! Silverworm & Somethingclever would probably agree.

Prochamber and Flowmaster is a magnificent sound. That is what I ran on my '03 Mach 1.

Running 1-5/8" shorties, BBK ORH and Flowmasters w/ LX tails on the T-bird. Sounds good. The wife's '90 vert w/ a BBK ORH and Magnaflow's sounded better from idle to full throttle though.

If you don't use the X, let me know. I like a raspy sound.
