More power seat issues for me folks...

This time in the '94 Cobra - power driver's seat.

It has a single joystick style control on the front of the seat ( faces the pedals ). You can move the joystick up or down to raise or lower the seat. That part works fine. And you can move it left ( to move the seat forward ) or right ( to move the seat backwards ). This is the part that has decided to start malfunctioning.

I removed the seat and while both tracks seem to be a little under-powered moving forward or backward, the driver's right side track seems to be the worse of the two. The threaded rod along the right seat track needs help in order to turn and move that track forward or backward. The driver's left side track moves much better, but also seems to be having trouble.

I worked both tracks forward and backward - each needs help - and lubricated them extensively hoping that they'd start moving more freely after several cycles. But there has been very little improvement.

I'm thinking that the motor under the center of the seat - that drives the tracks forward and backward - must have some binding inside of it and / or some stripped gears. The whole thing sounds like the mechanicals inside are plastic, and it is my guess that some / most of the teeth have sheared off.

So - I'm wondering if anyone has a power seat track assembly for the driver's side - that would fit a '94. Maybe I could just get by replacing the motor assembly - but the connections to each track and the threaded rods that move the tracks seem like they'd be difficult to remove/replace, and a complete seat base swap would be the easiest.

The part numbers on the motor that drives the tracks is:

F2ZU-14547-BA
8-70555A 5309790 N2 4153

If anyone has any suggestions or a power seat base lying around I'd be very interested. I have the car for sale and would like to fix this as soon as possible.

Thanks!

Ron
