Mainly Union guys, but I have friends in all kinds of fields. I've been looking at houses over the past 2 years. Houses in the $200k-$230 range, not super expensive, but not shacks, most of them sell in weeks. We go out to eat, its always a 45 min to hour wait at decent restaurants. I've been to two shows on consecutive weekends at Consol, both packed. Take a ride to one of the casinos on a weekend, its packed. People have money to spend. I just don't see it around here for all the people bashing the economy and Obama. I think there are deeper underlying issues that people really don't want to talk about.

He basically bought the votes from Michigan & Ohio due to the auto industry bailout.

The currency printing presses have hardly stopped printing money since he took office. Trilions and trillions of dollars of debt - that makes me sick. I know in my heart that the next 4 years are going to see a huge negative impact on our country because of his horrendous stances and programs.

The fact that people are spending money does not mean that they are SAVING a dime of what they're making. In general people these days, particularly young folks, aren't overly concerned with saving. And when social security takes a dump in the future, those folks are going to be in a bad way during their "golden" years.

I'm sorry if I offended anyone with my previous post - the fact that I'm upset about all of this doesn't make it right for me to spout off about those who voted for Obama. Everyone has their own reasons for voting a particular way, and I do respect that - when those reasons are valid.

All you people saying you are working ot blah blah. Congrats!!!! I haven't received a raise in 6 phucking years. There is no jobs. Jobs in my field are not here. Guess where they went???? Correct answer if you guessed China!! It doesn't take a phucking scientist to see that steel industries have left. All the remediation projects are gone. There is no building going on that helps my industry. Now, those phuckin china men are thriving. Not us, the Americans. We are being driven out of OUR country.

Not trying to get into a debate BUT the housing market in PA was never really affected by the housing collapse. Than you add in artificially low interest rates to an already low inventory of 200k-299k homes in PA ... and yes you maintain one of the few areas that have not been "infected" by Obummers policies.

Yes people are starting to feel maybe we've turning the corner and are spending money but mark my words .... as the DOW continues to fall, unemployment rates continue to rise or stay round the dismal 8% mark, gas prices and our taxes increase that confidence will disappear as well as those lines! Most importantly the people we truly want spending money have slowed down over the past 4 years and with Obummer-care and higher taxes, small businesses will inevitably stop to survive.

But what the hell they didn't build that business ... someone else did!

Again GOD I HOPE I AM WRONG!!!

    Over-and-out ... I'm heading to the mountains!

The only good thing that came out of the election.

I just hope that maybe finally the GOP will realize that there just aren't enough white christians to support their agenda anymore, and they need to start dropping the religious BS to continue moving forward and make some real fiscal change. There are many guys out there like me who are socially "liberal" but wildly conservative fiscally, unfortunately not all of them voted for Romney last night. They will continue to lose members to the Independents, Libertarians (myself, although I did vote for Romney), and even some to the democrats until they wake up and realize it isn't 1955 anymore.

Jobs move, the era of large quantity of production jobs are long gone around here. People have to be versatile these days. Its inevitable that I get laid off occasionally, its part of my business. I accepted that. As long as i've known you, you have had the same job running heavy equipment, so I don't know what job you had that moved to china? Coal production is down because i'm assuming epa restrictions put on them? I honestly don't know. Thats a dying occupation anyway imo. Coal isn't an endless supply, the production IS gonna end. Railroads, I have no idea. Romney said he would end Unions in his first year. Why would ANYONE who is Union affiliated in any way vote for that guy? Regardless if Obama "bought" two Union heavy states. I think Romney squandered them with his statements. I thought it was funny that Romney wanted to abolish unions (a job where you pay dues to work at a job unavailable to the general public) then his wife admits to shopping at a warehouse store. (a store where you pay dues to get deals unavailable to the general public) See the irony?

Heavy equipment then to plant manager. Still in the environmental field. With the closings of the steel mills, that has made my company suffer and we were built on the steel industry in 1957. No are production, no waste to treat, store and dispose of (TDSF) which is what I do. Yes, we got all the contaminated soil from the construction of pnc park and Heinz field. That was years ago. Got the August Wilson project also. Hardly anything from the gas (boom) though. Which brings me to what I was saying, its flooded with people to do the work and live in a hotel room. No thanks. Decent local jobs are gone.

But Romney never said that (that ****tard Akin did). In fact he ran pro-choice in Mass, never heard him say much about religion or abortion during his campaign, at all. The GOPs stance on abortion (which is time for them to change IMO, it is legal and is costing them many votes from single and married women) is what the dems harped on. Never mind the fact that it would take a constitutional amendment to overturn Roe v. Wade, which would be political suicide. Gotta give it to the democratic party, 50% of the nation fell for their bullshit.

Still not sure how Obama can discuss his faith (under a racist minister nonetheless, but noone cares about that), yet any GOP candidate does and they all of a sudden become a far right wacko.

No money coming in, no money to go out for raises. Nothing personal with me. That's the shitty economy. Again, I won't live in a hotel room. Did that before. I have a son and I won't not be here for him. Bite the bullet and continue doing what I am doing for what I make. Not really any other option.

Or you can keep doing what your doing and drive old shit.

Some people aren't willing to make any sacrifices to give their families more in life and there's nothing wrong with that. Some people are content with their own standards and that's fine. Knocking someone for trying to get ahead in life isn't very cool though especially if that person considered you a friend....

And there are so many local decent paying jobs (80-100K+) around here that don't require overnight travel. If you have the right set of skills and a ambition to succeed then its like shooting fish in a barrel.
