Thumbs up '01 GT / short term powa goals !!!

We need some more modular 2V info on this board. Peeps are all hardcore 5.0 and 4V.

Anyway, looks as though I'll be picking up an '01 Mustang Gt from CST 03 (Roxy) in the near future.

My short-term goal is to reach the 99-04 advertised crank hp/tq at the wheels, so we're shooting for 260/300.

Car is a 5-speed. Power mods on car now are BBK cai and welded in Flowmaster 2-chamber mufflers. My plans for the immediate future are a catted mid-pipe, 75mm throttle body, upper plenum and mail-order tune from Modular Depot. Car does have 3.73 gears and needs speedo corrected. I figure I'll go with the tune now to correct for the gears, juice the timing and shoot for a 12.9 A/F. At this point, I'll go to Hybrids and dyno the damn thing (hopefully I can get this all done before we actually have a dyno day). If my A/F and/or power is way off, Ima go to SGS (? ex-Kaufmans) and get my tune tweaked.

I'll guess without the dyno tune, it'll put down 250hp/290tq and Dave Guy will have to coax the other ten out of it on the dyno.

I got my 00GT up to 270rwhp with bullitt intake, Mac LT headers, off road x, cat-back, underdrive pulleys, and a 80mm pro-m mass air meter..oh and a dyno tune :) Later on I pulled the blower off and did a re-dyno and with the addition of blower cams but with no underdrive pulleys, she stepped up to 280rwhp.

Thanks, but I don't really trust myself with the tuning. Modular Depot sells them for the same retail price as everywhere else and they include one of their "custom" tunes to match your mods. It seems like they have a lot of satisfied customers on their forum.

Oh, and Kevin, when I get 'er home, I'll take a pic of your baby in my garage so you can sleep at night.

Well, if I go with an o/r pipe... I could get through this first round under a grand. If we assume 8-10hp for the tb/plenum combo, 8-10 for the mid-pipe and 10 on the tune... I should be close to to my goal for ($1000/30hp) $33.33 per horsepower. Not bad?

does this add HP??? WTF??? just kidding. It has a chin spoiler on it and I just ordered a Mach 1 grill delete, so I'll stick with that for now... but that front bumper prolly would look real good on there.

Don't you know that you pick up about 10hp with a cobra front bumper JK. What your doing will look good for sure, like the grill deletes.

I would wait and get LTs if I were you before buying a mid pipe. They make a big difference even NA. If you decide in the future to get them you'll have to scrap the mid pipe you are planning to buy. You could look at SLPs modular x pipe also. It can be broken down into a shorter version to accomodate LTs. Just my .02.

LTs and Cams are part of the "long-term" plan. I'll just hafta buy another mid-pipe. ebay is my friend.

Good deal. Let me know when you are ready for cams. I have a set of VT Stage 1 NA cams here that I may or may not end up using. I'm all confused about what I want to do now. lol

dammit I wasn't planning on starting my cam research yet. VT does make some very nice products. What is Stage 1. Any PTV clearance issues with stock bottom end? Do you need new springs? Can you install the springs with the heads on the block? Who makes the most aggressive cam we can use with stock pistons?

    I may scrap the long-term s/c idea and go for 300rwhp n/a.

edit: actually I'd like to wait and see if someone comes up with a clean-sheat 2V 4.6 Head for these things instead of a massaged PI core.

VT, makes very nice N/A cams. On the blower side I like HP blower cams. VT stage 1 you can get away with stock valve springs. You could also get away with a stage 2 cam, but you will need valve springs. You really don't get into PTV clearance unless your a 96-98 with a PI head swap. Your also going to need a tune. The car will run, but it won't idle for crap. You can change the valve springs on the car, but your going to buy a special tool from OTC that like $150 to do it.

300rwhp is possible, but it's going to be expensive!! Ported heads, aftermarket intake manifold, cams, complete exhaust, and a good tune.

Wow what is she putting down now? That is amazing. When I slap a blower on my car I might be making a trip across the state.

Are you going s/c hence the selling of the cams? I'll probably be in the same boat in a few months. Here's how it breaks down:

    Option 1
    Cams 600
    pulleys 200
    l/t 600
    midpipe 200
    install 400?

    total 2000
    hp maybe 30 (2000/30 = $67 per hp)

Option 2 (start mad money account to hide money)
    s/c kit 3900?
    install 600?

    total 4500
    hp 100 (4500/100 = $45 per hp) plus you're 70hp ahead!!!
