I vote for option 1... seems like everybody and their brother goes with a centrifugal blower on newer GT's.... however, if you were to put a good ol' Eaton on it or something, then i'd change my mind

She's still 531rwhp and 463rwtq. When I'm done playing with my 91, I'm going to have the engine forged and maybe step up to a T trim.

The car will run, but it won't idle for crap. You can change the valve springs on the car, but your going to buy a special tool from OTC that like $150 to do it.

300rwhp is possible, but it's going to be expensive!! Ported heads, aftermarket intake manifold, cams, complete exhaust, and a good tune.
all right. Now you got me doing research. damn you guys anyway. I guess stage 2 is out of the question on a stock shortblock because they make all their power from 3000-6700 and we ain't going there. So, (if I even do this) Stage I it is. Chris on VT website it says I can use stock springs and stock computer with Stage I. In your experience is this true?

  4. #24
Troll you can use stock springs and stock computer with the stage I but you should get a tune to maximize the benefits of them and improve driveability. PM me if you want the cams. They are brand new in the box. I opened them to check them out but never got around to installing them. Now I really want to do a blower this time next year. It wouldn't make any sense installing them now.

That's a serious credit to your tuning brother.

+1 on that 2 hps per cube at the wheels is just crazy on the stock bottom.

What's more important Fighter...going fast or being different?

going fast means blower (in a street modular mustang world)

being different means NA (in a street modular mustang world)

If you want to go fast...how much money do you have to spend? You're going about it in the wrong way IMO. Set a budget and work from there....not the other way around.

See I was going to go NA first and do h/c/i to be different, but now I've decided against it. Its cheaper in the long run just to get the blower. If I decide I still want more power there's always pulleys and forged short blocks available. On the other hand I know of a guy with the VT Stage 1s and full bolt ons who ran 12.8s with some weight reduction.

*Edit By the way your cobra is fast. lol

Stock valve springs will be fine. From what I've seen, your going to need a tune to get the car to idle like stock. She will run ok without a tune, but it will be prone to stalling.

I missed this post earlier. Yeah I've made up my mind that I'm going with a blower this time next year. If you are interested in the the cams just let me know. My original plan was pretty much the same as your option one just add in a 75mm tb/plenum combo.

Anyway, looks as though I'll be picking up an '01 Mustang Gt from CST 03 (Roxy) in the near future.

My short-term goal is to reach the 99-04 advertised crank hp/tq at the wheels, so we're shooting for 260/300.

Car is a 5-speed. Power mods on car now are BBK cai and welded in Flowmaster 2-chamber mufflers. My plans for the immediate future are a catted mid-pipe, 75mm throttle body, upper plenum and mail-order tune from Modular Depot. Car does have 3.73 gears and needs speedo corrected. I figure I'll go with the tune now to correct for the gears, juice the timing and shoot for a 12.9 A/F. At this point, I'll go to Hybrids and dyno the damn thing (hopefully I can get this all done before we actually have a dyno day). If my A/F and/or power is way off, Ima go to SGS (? ex-Kaufmans) and get my tune tweaked.

I'll guess without the dyno tune, it'll put down 250hp/290tq and Dave Guy will have to coax the other ten out of it on the dyno.

RJ, yes the t/b and plenum are in my original "short-term" post before y'all starting stretching me into my "long-term" plans prematurely.

    THREAD FROM THE DEAD.

I think I'll be different. Going back to the N/A plan.

    Recap: Right now, car has:
    steeda u/d pulleys
bbk cai (modified by me as a straight shot with 9" K&N filter and ghetto heat shield)
    bbk 75mm t/b
    bbk upper plenum
    mac o/r pro-chamber (which might be for sale soon---fits any 96-04 2/4v 4.6)
stock cat-back with 40-series 2-chamber flowmasters welded in
    3.73 gears / steeda tri-ax shifter
SCT XCAL II with a Modular Depot mail-order 93 tune

    just ordered:

    1 x 1996-2004 Mustang 4.6L GT High-Performance 1-5/8"Full-Length Headers (Ceramic) (BBK15410)

    1 x ASC15 1996-2004 Mustang GT & Cobra Shorty Off-Road X-Pipe For BBK Full-Length Headers (BBK1635)

    1 x 1999-2004 Mustang 4.6L GT 2V SOHC Stage 4 Camshafts for "PI" Heads (COMP102500) (xe262ah)

I'll probably get to SGS sooner or later for a dyno-tune. Hoping for 280-300 RWHP

Question: How much HP do the stock 19 lb injectors support? And, same for the MAS? What size is stock MAS on a 99-04 4.6?

dammit, you told me stockers would be fine. and, Comp Cams website and every other forum says stock springs are fine with the 262. Motor only has 29,xxx miles.
