I haven't seen shit. I just bought some peak rut granules. A few buddies in WV have already killed bucks coming into it. Best part is, it lasts throughout rain. I'm glad I'm in a blind or I would be soaked. It rains every day I've been in the woods.

how did everyone do now that archery is over?

I saw a lot of buck this year - over 10 different ones and I was out prob less than 10 times.

I ended up hitting a nice one about mid-season....knew it was a bad hit and unfortunately came up empty handed......really really disappointing.

A couple days later I took a doe for a confidence booster....my buddy was hunting with me and he took a button buck same afternoon...good times.

    I passed on 4 different legal buck...all 2.5 yr old animals....7's and 8's.

I had been seeing nice mature half rack 5 that I wanted to take as he was the only 3.5 yr old animal I had seen all season.....never got an opportunity.

Last day was cold...i could only hunt int he morning and said heck with it...not freezing my fanny off so stayed inside. I had thought I should do a late morning hunt in a stand I have that is amongst some thick stuff in a creek bed....ended up not doing it and was busy working around the house...about noon I was walking in my yard between buildings and looked at my path that goes to that same stand and here comes a mother, yearling, and an easy 150" whitetail....without a doubt the largest whitetail buck I have ever seen in person...dead or alive (not counting mounted deer). Came out into my yard at 50 yds from me as we stood there looking at each other.

Unreal...who knows if he walked right past that stand or not...but i would've had the fever so bad probably would've just shot a nearby tree anyway. :)

Will be looking for him in a couple weeks with rifle in hand, that is for sure....

I passed on a few shooters. A big 8, and a couple 10 points. I had my eyes on a 12 point old boy that never showed up in the daytime. I would see him at night. Hoping he will make a mistake during second season. They eat well and grow old on our property.

Anyone have any luck yet in rifle?

I saw a 4pt at 8am and then nothing the rest of the day.

weather was pretty crappy so I went in for an early lunch at 11:30 and then decided to finish mounting my winter wheels/tires on my V and then went back out at 1:45.....

Saw a small buck mid-day but couldn't make him legal. Other than that the same three doe ran circles around me all day.

    Deer season success

Nice buck goat! It's been a bad year in the State College area .... One 8 and a small 6 (shot by mistake) both seasons, which is horrible! Not sure what's going on up here but I had equal success on Monday in North Butler

    Real nice, goat!
Only know of a couple guys with success around here, 1 small 8 pt, the other a real nice 10 pt, and my buddy got a decent 8 pt out in Potter County. I like people to be successful... less chance they'll jump out in front of me driving, and hopefully they'll share some jerky or other venison goodies. :D

Congrats man, beautiful buck! What broad heads do you use? They did a number on that deer. Have you been seeing any rut activity during daylights hours?

Thank you. This was an expandable broadhead called "Vortex" 125 gr. They stopped making them years ago. There is a company producing very similar heads called "Trauma". They fly true and open up to 3". This deer was quartered away from me, exit wound was right shoulder. Try these things, I'm telling you I've never seen so much damage from any head.

I have a set of 3 expendables that I purchased a long long time ago when expendables first hit the market, almost identical to yours. They are called Buckblasters, 125g, 2 blade with a 3" cut. Wouldn't be surprised if they are made by the same company. Only thing I ever shot with mine was a tree lol.
