    1999 Lightning

Maybe someone here had a similar problem to help me out. Recently, my stock, except for a k/n filter, 1999 Lightning has a intermittent power loss/ stumble problem. Does seem to do it mainly when the engine is at temp. Happens under boost or cruising on the highway. Will stumble/breakup really bad just off idle. Changed the fuel filter, fuel pump resistor, swapped fuel pump relays, nothing has yet to fix it. Feels like its just not getting enough fuel. Tonight, after a 45 minute ride, it started. Let the truck sit for about 45 minutes, restarted and it was still there. Babied it the rest of the way home. Intercooler fluid level isn't dropping, starts and idles fine. 99% stock with 44k miles. Going to unplug the mass air sensor if it does it when I restart tomorrow to see if it helps.

I know these trucks have issues with moisture getting trapped around the spark plug area. Take off the COP's and check them out. Mine was doing the same thing, only I was getting a misfire CEL. Mines an N/A truck too.

The symptoms you say sound like an ignition problem of some sort IMO.

Sounds like what my Cobra did when the fuel rail pressure sensor went bad. Not sure if the lightnings them or not. If it does, try unplugging the wires to it and see what happens.

The k&n cai kit I put on it was used, but brand new. The filter was already oiled and looked normal. I wonder if once I get so much air moving over it, its messing with the maf and screwing things up.

Try cleaning the mass air sensor itself sometimes over oiled K&N's spread the oil and it affects the mass air sensor.
