    pro charger or nitrous????

thinkin about lookin for a procharger for my foxbody 5.0 but nitrous is a much cheaper way to go and my motor is built to take it. whats everybody think about the 2 ?? pros? cons? what kind of procharger is better for the buck ?? thanks for your opinion in advance...

If your motor is built, I'd say go FI over N2O. Are you considering anything besides a ProCharger? I like the Paxton on my '66.

My motor is just a simple little 5.0 roller cam block from an '85 GT. Hypereutectic(sp?) pistons. TFS TW heads. The Paxton Novi 1200 ( carbed setup ) is probably putting out 6-7 pounds of boost. My guess is that the car makes 425-450 horsepower at the crank. It runs low 12s with easy launches ( 3000 rpm ). Any harder off the line and the T5 would be toast.

One day I'll build a nice forged 408 and throw 10psi at it. Until then, this little 5.0 is still a lot of fun.

Smaller pulleys can be used to up the boost, but my T5, pistons, block are pretty much maxed out at my current power levels, so I haven't pushed my luck.

I'd say with a built motor you already got a head start! Nitrous would be the cheapest route, most sc'ers are close to like 5 grand just to purchase'em!! Soon after thou upgrades on everything occurs!

When I had nitrous it always sucked getting it refilled. Boost is always there.

I would say go with the procharger. A properly set up nitrous kit starts getting up there pretty quick. The nice part about the procharger kits is that they come with an intercooler. The power loss on a non intercooled car is hard to believe till you actually see it. I do run nitrous on my daily driver mustang but you always need to keep an eye on the bottle pressure and make sure the bottle is not about empty. Nitrous kind of needs baby sat and it always seems like I run out when I really need it!

i had n2o on my fox and it was fun and cheap but i went with a paxton. they are all right it is nice to have the boost there all the time. there is a guy in north versailles selling a vortech with upgrades on it for $1,800 i know him his shit is good not junk. he also has injectors and other stuff. you talk to him he will make you a deal.

How much power is your 306 making now? E7 head/stock cam/stock manifold setup or does it have a performance combo?

Can't really go wrong either way- personally, if it were mine, I'd probably lean towards nitrous IF the motor is making decent power on it's own. If it's a stock spec rebuild then I'd probably through boost at it.

I would definitely go with some form of boost. While I have nothing against nitrous & it is definitely cheaper to initially get into it, it's a pain in the ass. With boost, it's always there too. This is coming from a former nitrous junkie too! When you start spending $100-150 a weekend on nitrous for a street/strip car it gets old real quick

i have actually had many turbos, blowers to give an opinion. go with a nice healthy n/a setup, add spray for track duty or those times when you need it to get around someone in a race.

if you end up being dead set on f.i i have an hp turbo kit and a renegade s trim kit id sell. spray is the only way for me personally
