"No man is entitled to the blessings of freedom unless he be vigilant in it's preservation"
General Douglas McArthur
Where do you think I don't "get it"? I, ME personally don't have any need for a weapon like that, it's not MY thing. Where did I ever say we should give up the right to own such things?
I say we shouldn't let these rights go because more restrictions will follow.....reading comprehension FTW.
NahThats gonna work wonders just like all the other petitions, emails, phone messages, ect. That stuff goes directly into the garbage can.
Politicians are still swayed by votes. Every pro-gun letter they receive represents another vote; for them if they maintain a pro-gun voting record, against them if they vote for more gun control.
They remember the disastrous effects of the last big gun control legislation to pass (the '94 'assault weapons' ban), where they were voted out of office en masse.
Every letter, email, fax, or phone call sent will help sway them to our side- not out of some ideological awakening, but because it's helps remind them that we are still quite powerful, motivated, and are going to vote according to our convictions.
Anyone who values our Second Amendment should at minimum be an NRA member and a regular letter sender to his or her reps.
