I'd keep the Shelby and find a really nice older supercrew F150. Your Shelby is a great car - and nicer than most of them out there. An older F150 won't have all the bells and whistles, but can still be super nice. I love my brother-in-law's 2004 FX-4 supercrew with the 5.4, leather, loaded. One of those might run you $15k tops these days - as compared to $40k or so new. And it wouldn't depreciate much more if you'd take care of it, which I assume you would based on how you keep your Shelby.

If you do decide to sell your Shelby, what would you ask for it? I know a guy who might be interested.

or a Chebby, which are junk! Keep the GT500 Mark. I think you should buy an 11 or 12 F150, Mark. You can find a Lariat, FX4, King Ranch, for probably in the low 30's now.

I can't justify keeping the GT500 and buying a truck. With a second child on the way I need to keep expenses down! Daycare will be $2k a month starting in July!... so the GT500's got to go if I want a truck. The wife loves the Raptor and is actually pushing me to buy one so I have to strike while the iron is hot!

I think the Raptors are cool but while out at a crime scene a cop told me hed rather have bought a regular F-150 than his Raptor. He has the 6.2L and is getting 10-11 MPG. That crap gets old and was the reason I dumped my Hemi for my new F-150 Ecoboost. Its a FX4 super crew loaded and I wouldnt have it any other way. Getting 14 MPG with all city driving in the hills of the burgh. Winter time and the truck has only 600 miles on it now. After break in and summer it should see the advertised 15 MPG city.

If you would like a super crew Raptor with more options then I would hold off and find one like that.

If you plan on putting carseats in the back row a supercab will be a pain. We tried putting our car seat in rear facing in a scab and the passenger seat wouldn't go all the way back. The screws have a limo sized rear seat. Our daughter is 20 months now and can just barely kick the front seat when it's all the way back, but she's a super string bean about the height of a 3 yr old.

Rio94gt, it's been my experience that the "5000 mile break in will get you better mileage" is a huge crock. I've got 8900 on the clock now and it hasn't changed at all. Winter gas or summer gas, it's just seems to be where it's going to be. Lots of guys claim to get an increase after 5K, I'm not seeing it. Maybe it's an ecoboost thing more than a 5.0 thing, dunno.

Im not banking on seeing a dramatic increase. Buddy of mine has the same exact truck and sees about .5-1 MPG better in the summer. Im happy where it is now so any improvement from here is just a bonus.

    Anymore on here. nope.

But really, you do not buy a truck for his fuel mileage. If you truly want fuel mileage a truck should not be on the list. Just like if you want power you dont look at v6 "muscle car".. You buy a truck because you obvisouly need that truck to do a job, whether it be hauling a trailer or putting things in the bed. Therefore the first thing that should be looked at is its payload and towing capacity. IF you need to haul 12k lbs. your not going to get a truck that can only haul 8k because it gets x amount of better fuel mileage. That constructive enough for you?

And if someone wants a raptor, I can say that fuel mileage is the last thing on the persons mind. Just like if you want 500hp, a v6 mustang would not be very high on your list.

I say get you a ecoboost FX4. It is the best of everything. You can get all the options you want in it or the Lariat. Also, have you ever seen the torture tests on these trucks. They are simply amazing. Also, I helped my neighbor get out of his Ram and into one of these and he loves it. Went to North Carolina and got 32mpg. He said he couldn't imagine any other truck and 92306GT can also tell you these are impressive trucks. Here is some must see items. Watch in order. Also here is some info from edmunds.com to give you a little hard facts.

Of the three 5.4 replacements, a truck version of the new 5.0-liter V8 sits at the low end of the scale, while the 6.2-liter V8 that was introduced in the SVT Raptor is now the top power plant.

Low end of the scale is a bit of a misnomer, however, as the 5.0-liter V8 is rated at 360 hp and 380 pound-feet of torque. Most of it is the same as the Mustang version, including the aluminum block and heads, independently variable intake and exhaust cam timing and many internal bits. New intake cams with less duration provide a truckier torque curve, and a reduced 10.5:1 compression ratio (down from 11.0:1) allows a steady diet of 87-octane regular, the fuel on which the rated output is derived. It's also calibrated to run on E85 ethanol, a trick the Mustang's mill can't manage.

Compared to the outgoing 5.4 V8's 315 hp and 365 lb-ft of torque, the 5.0's gains are impressive. We're talking 45 additional horses and a maximum tow rating of 10,000 pounds for this new base V8.

On the road, the 5.0 purrs along serenely and quietly, apparently sipping "up to 20 percent less" gasoline. (Ford isn't saying anything specific until EPA testing is complete.) Boot the throttle and acceleration is strong, as if the truck were hundreds of pounds lighter (it isn't). Forward progress is accompanied by a powerful V8 exhaust note that's a well-tuned blend of throaty intake honk and exhaust growl.

At the top end of the lineup we find the same 6.2-liter V8 we're enjoying in our long-term SVT Raptor. It still makes 411 hp and 434 lb-ft of torque on premium fuel. Nothing is different except for its expanded use in the 2011 F-150 Harley-Davidson, in a special-edition Lariat Limited and as an option on the Lariat and Platinum. All told, Ford expects the 6.2-liter V8 to make up about 5 percent of the total F-150 mix.

    Six Is the New Eight

Between these impressive efforts sits the new marquee engine that Ford considers the "volume" top-level choice. But it's no V8. No, this is the EcoBoost twin-turbo V6 we've been hearing about, and it's for real.

Like the Ford Flex's EcoBoost engine, it displaces 3.5 liters, has direct fuel injection and is pressurized by two turbochargers. But in turning it 90 degrees, from front-drive sidewinder to a rear-drive north-south orientation, most major pieces had to be redesigned. The basic architecture is the same -- bore centers, deck height, 60-degree vee angle -- but the block, heads, valve covers, intake manifold and other big chunks are all-new.

And there are specific performance-oriented differences. The Flex/SHO EcoBoost has intake-only variable valve timing, but this trucked-out version can vary exhaust valve timing, too. Its twin turbochargers are made by Borg-Warner instead of Honeywell and boost pressure has been raised from 10 to 13 psi. A large air-to-air intercooler sits behind a gaping slit in the chrome bumper, with the front license-plate bracket moved off to the driver side.

What kind of output does all this new hardware generate? Try 365 hp at 5,000 rpm. Peak torque is up there -- 420 lb-ft at 2,500 revs, with 90 percent of that available from 1,700-5,000 rpm.

HERE IS THE FACTS ON TOWING AND YES THE ECOBOOST HAS A HIGHER TOW RATING.
