Virginia Tech Shooting

These things just disgust me. Last year with the shooting at my school i could not believe that it happened. This is worse than that shooting. Im just tired of gutless people going on a spree before turing the gun on themself. What the hell did they accomplish. I think that the University President made a bad move by not calling off classes and the Campus Police cheif didnt do much more. I really dont know what else to make of it other than its just sickening that these things happen.

My thoughts and prayers are with all of the students and parents and relatives of the victims.

I have alot of friends at Virginia Tech, I just graduated from there less than a year ago.

I spent a good deal of time today calling them, instant messenging them, texting them, whatever I could do to be sure they were alive and well. I finally can say they are all fine. I have a few friends there who are engineering majors, and were in the building where the second shooting occurred. One of my friends called into CNN, so I was able to see that he was alive based on that.

The location of the first shooting, the 4th floor of West Ambler Johnston Hall...I lived on the 4th floor of that dorm when I was a freshman. This all is hitting pretty close to home for me. One of my friends said his buddy is in the hospital undergoing surgery for gunshot wounds. Here's his story (taken from my buddy's away message on AIM)

"colin's story: guy kicks the door in and shoots a bunch of people, shoots colin in the knee, and leaves. colin gets on the phone with 911 and is trying to tell them about it, then a girl starts yelling into the phone. shooter comes back in, kicks the phone out of the girl's hand, shoots her, shoots colin in both shoulders, then shoots himself. colin's ok..."

Look at this link, the guy they are carrying out the door is apparently his buddy Colin.

I feel horrible for the families of the victims, and for their friends. I could not imagine being in Blacksburg right now. Blacksburg is one of the safest places I have ever been or lived in, that's what makes this whole thing even more shocking.

They haven't come out with a definite answer yet. Some say there may be another suspect, but others say it was the same for both incidents. I guess only time will tell. They haven't had time to gather and analyze forensic evidence since it hasn't been long at all since it happened. I'm sure they will know within a few days how many suspects there were.

I certainly hope it was just the one, and that he is burning in hell as we speak.

(Tuesday, January 31, 2006) Gun bill gets shot down by panel
A bill that would have given college students and employees the right to carry handguns on campus died with nary a shot being fired in the General Assembly.

Virginia Tech spokesman Larry Hincker was happy to hear the bill was defeated. "I'm sure the university community is appreciative of the General Assembly's actions because this will help parents, students, faculty and visitors feel safe on our campus."

"The guns are secured inside storage compartments in a locked room slightly larger than a walk-in closet.

University policy requires students and employees, other than police, to check their guns there. If they want to take them off campus, they have to sign them out, and a university police officer must retrieve them."

english major who wrote about murder and pedophile tendancy's and his teacher tried to get police and/or counolers involved and couldnt :(
