WTF do these things cost $100??? I just can't come to justify spending that kind of money on a shiny can that may or may not have any positive use. Since it's argument weather outside what's your stinkin opinion???

I bought into the hype in the 5th gen camaro world and bought one from rx for around 120ish bucks. I made one myself on the mach 1 for about 15 dollars and both work exactly the same. To do it all over again I would have saved my 120 bucks!

Now just hold on a minute. There are some of us that have that fancy stuff on our cars and go to shows but, I also use my car for autocrossing and the drag strip. :D

BTW! Those catch cans do work well. Mine has been half filled after running it hard. I have a Moroso for those that care.

I thought this is where the opinions would come into play. Some guys say it's just a drop or so every 100 miles, others get a few ounces over 1000 miles.

Then there's the 'if it made a difference wouldn't Ford include them' argument. Maybe if people maintained their stuff. Ford doesn't care once you get past 36K and it's usually waaay past that when this would be an issue.

I just can't bring myself to pay $100 for a empty beer can. I wouldn't of used Bud Light...I got a few empty 24oz PBR's here...

Its not a Ford thing or a Mustang thing. All cars with a PCV system suck oil vapors in. Its normal and won't neccessarily hurt anything in the short term...but the long term is where it'll help

Its more of a preventative maintenance thing. Ever tear apart a high mileage foxbody? The inside of the Upper and lower intakes are completely covered in oil, which at that point, does affect performance. Its all sludgey (is that a word?) inside the intake and all over the throttle body. If you keep your coyote for 100k+ miles and put an oil separator on early, you will be thankful that you did.

Now the price. Yeah that's ridiculous, but they do their job. And the JLT one uses factory hoses, so they plug right into the stock locations perfectly and look good too since they're billet aluminum

I was considering the JLT, but again the price is tough to swallow. Gotta dig around the garage and either fab one up or sell off some stuff to offset the cost.

Yeah I feel ya. I've been wanting to get one too. I have a $50 gift card to American Muscle and still haven't pulled the trigger on one even with $50 off! lol

Why not breathers and eliminate your PCV system?

A properly operating PCV system is beneficial to any engine. It helps maintain ring seal by creating vacuum in the crankcase. That's why racers run vaccum pumps, because big cams decrease vacuum, which hurts the ability of the rings to seal. Also, if you get rid of the PCV, it's probably gonna void your warranty/kick a check engine light

No problem. Its Ryan, but very close!...on coyote with a supercharger/turbo you do not want to run the PCV system like it is from the factory. If you do this, you are doing opposite of what it is intended to do and pushing boosted air into the crankcase, rather than venting air out of the crankcase and recycling it. Look at this pic...

See the two black JLT oil separators? One going from the valve cover to the air intake pipe and one going from the other valve cover to the intake manifold under the engine cover... Now imagine a supercharger/turbo where the air filter is (before the throttle body). The blower is pushing boosted air into the air intake pipe and into the manifold. So here is the problem. There's no more vacuum there like there is in an NA car, so its pushing air into the valve covers instead of sucking air out.

You would want to either 1) put breathers on the valve covers to let crankcase pressure vent to the atmosphere or 2) put a catch can on that does not recycle into the intake, like this one:
