Wow, I thought .08 was rough. I can't believe it's .05 in a country like Ireland with such a rich drinking heritage, lol.

One of the comments at the bottom of that story said 0.05 is mandated by the EU. They'll lose state funding if they don't abide by the law.

It did say dui related deaths have gone down by 42% in 4 years. I'd say that's a good thing.

I've been telling people for years, the state should let you go take your driving test (drunk) and see how you do. Obviously, some people are better drunk drivers than others. Hell, tax the sh1t out of the test... make me pay 50 bucks for 6 state beers, drink them in front of you, take the driver's test, if I do well... then pay ??? $200-500 for a stamp on my license plate or license that says, "this driver good up to 0.15 ABV" or something like that.

Haha, I've said the exact same thing many times. Usually results in an eye roll from the wife

Oh, Mr. "I'm socially liberal" wants to get on his soapbox and talk down to me?

    You've NEVER done it?

Anything up to .10 BAC is nothing, I repeat NOTHING more than a money-making scheme. You go out to dinner and share a bottle of wine with your wife, you're over .08. You have TWO (2) beers in an hour at your boss's retirement party and you weigh under 200lbs, you're over .08. Are you too drunk to drive. NO! Period.

Do I condone drinking 15 beers, getting bomb-wasted and smashing a car full of your wife and kids? Fvck NO! Just saying the DUI laws in this country are absurd and nothing more than yet another TAX.

Damn dude, quoting parts of posts from other threads? Stalk much?

Not saying I have never driven drunk, only that I have grown up now and realize that driving drunk is ****ing stupid.

I will say I had 10X more fun when I used to drive drunk often but a DUI will put a damper on that pretty quick. Probably a good thing my fun ended that way rather than hurting others or myself.
