Now that life is finally easing up on me, I'll have more time to work on my projects. Unfortunately I let a Honda CBR skip in line so now it's getting torn into as we speak. But the good news is the Lincoln will be having the trans rebuilt, the plate/insurance going back on it and it might even get washed. I expect to have this car on the road by the end of the summer. By then I'll be done using it for a work bench/parts shelf.

Good news, it's titled, registered and insured. I took it out to NTB last weekend and somehow got almost 17 MPG out of it. Needs some new bushings and linkages from the pitman arms so it doesn't death wobble under braking and a few holes in the exhaust repaired. Overall, much better than I expected. Brake lines looked good, u-joints were good, shocks were good, motor mounts were good. Still need to fix the seals in the trans and headlight wiring, but overall for pulling this car out of a field it was stuck in for 7 years I'm shocked at how little it needs.

Holy shit, this thread is over 7 years old. King of procrastination.

I took the car out on the pizza power tour last October, and it didn't make it home; front pump seal puked all its Type F out. I got a quote to get it rebuilt a couple months ago and was quoted $2000. Sooooo...

The only reason this car is getting a 4L60 is because all you need to do is use an air hammer on some portions of the trans tunnel opening to massage it enough for it to fit. 4L80 and 6R80 require cutting the tunnel out of the car and fabricating a new one, which I'm not capable of. I'll just be happy to have fuel injection, 400 lbs lighter drivetrain and an overdrive gear.

First, I have all the wiring, vacuum lines and undercoating to strip off the car. If this heat wave would piss off that'd be great

    pic didn't show up..6.0 LS?

$2k for a C6 trans rebuild is steep....but regardless I understand the desire to swap to LS/OD based deal for a cruiser....

    Love these cars.....
