    Clutch Kits, etc.

So I'm going to replace my factory clutch, and I was leaning towards the UPR King Cobra (10.5") clutch for my stang. The other option I had was the Exedy Mach 400. I dyno'd last year at 251rwhp, before my exhaust, and any tunes, etc. So I have some room to grow. I won't be putting any Nitrous or any F/I into this car. So its safe to say the max I think I'll ever see is 300-330 for a cam/heads, etc (if I ever decide to).

I was also looking into the Stack Racing Firewall Adjuster, UPR TriHook Quadrant and then of course keeping the stock cable.

Do I need to replace the stock cable, or can I keep it? Is there anything I'm missing? Do I need to get a Lakewood Clutch Fork? Is there anything else I should take into consideration? I'm just trying to get some ideas before I start going on my 2nd ordering spree this year..

It depends on what your plans are for the Stang in the future!?? Also if you say you have low miles on it, keep saying how fresh it is, take care of it, babied it, and barely raced it just wondering why would you be replacing it!?? I've hardcorely raced mine for a half a decade on the stock one and just now its starting to worry me! My Stang just cracked 53,000 too!!

I didn't buy my car new. I'm guessing the person who drove it before me wasn't good at driving a standard. They took really really good care of the car, but the clutch is just shot. My cars sitting at 44,000 miles, so im only 9k under where yours sits. I've pulled the pedal, tried adjusting it and I've had 3 other people also confirm to me after driving it my clutch is bad. You can just feel it. I don't have an issue driving it, and I know what a bad clutch feels like, driven a lot of beater cars at the auction with slipping clutches, etc. I do baby my car. However I do beat on it from time to time to have fun with it. Its just time to replace the clutch. First thing I smelled when I brought it home was a burning clutch, which I shouldn't have had an issue with, considering it was all highway driving home from butler down I-79 lol

I just bought the UPR KC clutch but haven't installed it yet. Make sure you get a new flywheel or at minimum get your old one resurfaced.
As for a cable and quadrant kit, you can't do better than the MaximumMotorsport kit. I would never use any other cable than the one supplied in their kit.

    I like my ram clutch.

And I'm using the upr triple hook quadrant with a stock cable personally. No problems.

I think one of the "King Cobra" varients would be a great fit for what you describe ... The real king cobra isnt made any more, but the one UPR offers and the one LateModel Restoration sell are similar. Great fit at your power level

Thanks for the input. I figured that UPR King Cobra was a good fit for what I wanted. It was between that and the Exedy, but I've been partial to the King Cobra this entire time. I just wanted to see if anyone had any say if there was any major issues with it that would make me say no way!

i have a RAM HDX clutch and RAM billet steel flywheel. honestly feels great over stock (115k miles when it was replaced) and no problem at all holding power. my car is about 290hp at the wheels. and i agree with frankstang. if you get anything get the MM pieces. all of them made in America! A LITTLE bit pricier...but it will be worth it.
