    Sidelined for a while.......

Friday I did something incredibly manly and adventerous and paid the price. Really....I just slipped and tumbled down steps. My right leg and body wanted to take the fast way but my left leg wanted to take the slow way. Below is the result...my wife snapped this while the paramedics were getting my ready for transport.

My knees are both heading the same direction but the left foot is about 45 degrees of out is proper position....dislocated left ankle as well as broke both the tib and fib in three places. Going on Monday to see an ortho surgeon for the permanent repair prognosis.

When they relocated the ankle, aligned the bones and casted it, they doped me up with Ketamine.......wow......just wow. That stuff was wild. Wife said I was out like 5 minutes but it seemed like hours and my head was spinning for a while. There was some crazy stuff whirling around in my head.

Oh man Dan! Geez that sucks! At least you didn't hit your head and it wasn't the wife or kids. Hang in there and let us know how you are doing.

At first I thought...that doesn't look too bad.

Then I read that both your knees are laying parallel. Had to hurt like a biotch!

Nice! Looks exciting :( Did you get the x-rays I want to see them! I don't ever get to see anything that exciting at work. Everyone runs in to my work because they "bumped their hand off the cabinet this morning getting coffee". So I always have to x-ray retarded shit!

Good luck with your recovery man, I hope you feel better.. Keep it elevated!

Thanks. Only get up to use the bathroom and shower. Other than that it's elevated.

I was on an extension ladder about 10' up, the feet slipped on the floor and I rode the ladder to the ground. Landed on all fours and that knee hit the concrete. It split my femur straight up and broke off....total of about 6". Same accident took out my foot.

I couldn't walk for about 4 months and didn't work for over 8.

I broke mine parasailing with my girlfriend haha.. This chick went to jump from the pontoon boat onto the speed boat, and when she did she kicked off the bench, it fell directly on my big toe, then she fell backwards.. I caught her from breaking her head open, then she landed on top of the bench, hitting my toe a 2nd time. Yay! It hurt, but I just said whatever.. Found out 6 months later after I slammed it off a ride at the Kalahari... Decided it was time for an x-ray and low and behold, it had been broken since July lol! Its not a super bad break, but where its fractured at, it rubs against my tendon so when I flex my toe down (to grip if im walking on uneven ground or anything, it rubs against that tendon and it starts to swell after so long. I lose all mobility of that joint if I get it fixed, so Im just going to deal with it until I can't take it anymore hahaha.. No where near as bad as what you guys have, but it is just a hassle and annoying lol

That does suck. I have a plate and screws in my right ankle. I turned it hard and broke the smaller bone on the outside of my leg. It gets a little achey when it's cold but at least I can't turn and break it anymore. I think my cast was on 3.5 months
