    widened wheels/wheel spacers

just bought some beautiful stock Mach 1 wheels and want to put them on my 97 Cobra. obviously i want them to stand out and not have that tucked in look.

i know (or at least imagine) this is more expensive than buying aftermarket wheels, but i plan on getting them widened to 10.5 out back and 9 up front. want to keep a stock look and i think these will really stand out, plus i have always liked these wheels.

i will probably not do that until next winter. in the meantime, i plan on buying wheel spacers. question is, how big can i go on the front? i saw something saying not to go bigger than 1/4 inch, but have seen reviews of 25mm spacers and people love them on the front.

also, if i get my wheel widened to the desired size, will that cause a clearance issue (front and back) since the wheels get widened to the inside? i am hoping the spacers will compensate for that...

Any reason you would not just buy Mach 1 replicas in those sizes? Here is a link to AFS wheels, who sells the Mach 1 replicas.

I'm sure you could resell the OEM wheels, or keep them.

Did you buy your wheels from a seller near uniontown? If so, those are the wheels that came on my 95 gt vert.

no, dont think it was the same guy. i got mine out in Meyersdale from Monkeygritz who pulled them off of his Mach. and i do not like replica wheels. just my personal opinion, and it may sound stupid, but i am just not a fan. i might not even go to 10.5 out back, might get the back 2 widened to 9 and leave the front at 8, then just get wider tires out front over the 245s.

not really worried about the wheels at the time, though, since IF i actually do get them widened it will not be until next winter. more concerned about spacers. i am pretty set on putting them out back, just worried about the front. most of the reviews on sites where they were bought say there are no issues, but i see some who do not have them showing concern.

the car is barely driven, but when it is i guess i should make it look a little better than stock and still perform safely.

Sound like a good plan......I understand about the aversion to replicas. Also cant wait to see picture! I liked the look on my car, but like you, did not think they were wide enough.
