    Ohio Title Transfer.

I am going to pick up a bike in Ohio today.

Never bought a vehicle from a different state before.

Do I have to bring proof of insurance for THAT bike or can I just bring the insurance card from my current bike? Or do I even need to bring proof of insurance at all to transfer the title? Will they give me a temp plate to ride back on and bring it back to PA until I register it here?

I think you need proof of insurance of your current bike, and they will sign the title over to you to then do the notary work in Pa. More than likely they will do a bill of sale.

When I bought my car, I needed proof of insurance, did not have to be specific to the new car.

They sent me home on a temporary title, the bill of sale and a 30 day tag. Then I got an Ohio title for the car in my name a couple of weeks later, and took that to a PA notary to transfer to a PA title. I paid PA taxes when I transfered the title.

The last time I bought a car in Ohio I just had to sign a paper that I had insurance. That was 8 years ago. Things may have changed.

Take insurance, you should be able to ride it home with the OH plate on it then send it back to the original owner. As far as the title goes, once you pay in full, the owner signs the title and you are on your way. You do the notary work and pay the taxes in PA.

I have purchased vehicles in Ohio and Texas so I'm assuming bikes are no different.

If it looks good, you'll see it. If it sounds good, you'll hear it. If it's marketed right, you'll buy it. But if it's real, you'll feel it. IG: @donuttrump

I usually just go, get the title signed in my name with a notary stamping it in the state I bought it in with a bill of sale and bring it home. Do the notary and pay taxes here and done. I bought cars from New York, north Carolina, ohio, Maryland, west Virginia, and never had a problem.
