85 fox suspension recomendations for a 408 stroker

Anyone have any recommendations on a suspension set up for an 85 Mustang 408 stoker? I have a 5 speed, steeda double adjustable uppers and jegster (south side machine lowers, BFG 295-50-15 tires. The tires rip loose even in third gear when I hit the pedal to the metal. Any info on know set up's you guys are running that work would be very helpful.

If they are BFG radial T/As better tires would be the first thing I would do. Also decent lowers that won't rip your torque boxes out (Maximum Motorsports severe duty). Not sure what spring/damper combo you are running.

How about swapping the front end to the 1987+ k member with the bigger brakes?

also - have you upgraded the rear to an 8.8"?

First take those lowers and deposit them in the nearest garbage can/ toilet.
Lol. Then add any control arm made with bushings at both ends. Add some 14"/175 lb coil overs / adjustable struts to the front. Finally put some spherical bearings in the rear end housing along with a quality adjustable shock. That should about do it for suspension mods. I hope your 5 speed is a 3550/tko/500/600 if not your on borrowed time. Lol

I Have an 8.8, spherical bushings and adjustable QA1 rear shocks, 373 gears, battle boxes added to the torque boxes. I get ZERO traction and even when I hammer it at 40mph the tires fry. What springs is everyone using to get traction? Coil over or drag springs?

175/14 coil overs/ strange adjustable shocks/struts. Welded chassis mounts full length subframes. 15 year old Mac adjustable uppers/ non lowers spherical housing bearings 275/40/17 nitto dr's no front swaybar/ cut stock gt spring in rear. I don't really have any illusions of full traction on the street with my combo but it will hook up good by 40-50 in 2nd gear on a roll most of the time

make sure your front control arms move freely, with no bind. If you unbolt the sway bar and spindle, they should fall freely when dropped. Believe it or not, this helps with traction.

Also if your car runs any good it should burn tire at any time under 40-50 mph. What are you looking to do? My does, just pedal it till it hooks, or, mount a set of et streets and let it eat

I installed a later model K member on my 86 GT. It worked good for me but I went the the 94-95 spindles, five lugs and Cobra brakes. 8.8 is definitely the way to go.

Other guys go with an aftermarked K member with coil overs.

Everyone will have you goung a 1000 different directions. You have got to pay for it so plan your changes within your budget.

Are you trying to make the car handle or hook? Swapping K-members (to a later model, a lighter one would help) and stiffer springs aren't going to make the car hook better.

I agree with Mark. The mods I made were specific to my plans for my 86GT. My 86GT is a cruiser. I dont drag race with it or autocross.
My mods would not do alot for hooking up in a straight line.
