You can almost get into a used base 2011 5.0 for $18k. It would probably have more miles...but it would be 5 years newer.

    Car does look nice though.
2014 GT Premium - Sterling Gray Metallic - MT82 - Track Pack - Glass Roof - Recaro seats - Spoiler delete
12.76 @ 114.04 bone stock. Koni yellow coil-overs, BMR watts, LCA and LCA relo brackets, Borla S-type axle back.

1966 Coupe - 331 stroker - Bullet custom roller cam - cam and motor installed and dyno tuned by Rodeheavers Hot Rod - Astro A5 - McLeod RXT - 486 to the wheels - more fun than my little tires can handle

1966 Oldsmobile Toronado - currently NOT on jackstands

On what mystical planet do these deals exist?

    I haven't seen a 5.0 for less than $24K.

I saw a month or so ago a base 2011 GT with higher miles like (65,xxx or so) on Craigslist for like 21.5k or something. It was the cheapest new 5.0 I had seen.

I think if you spend $18k on a 3valve car you will be highly disappointed...

If it looks good, you'll see it. If it sounds good, you'll hear it. If it's marketed right, you'll buy it. But if it's real, you'll feel it. IG: @donuttrump

I spent $16K on my 3V a couple of years ago and I'm real happy with it. If you got them down just a bit I'd go for it.

They're a nice bump in performance vs the older SOHC 4.6s, and for the price of getting a real clean one with super low miles they can be hard to beat - at least mine was for me. I wanted an LS2 GTO when I bought mine, but couldn't beat the deal on mine and went for it.

this is what I was thinking... it says "make offer" on the ebay listing. I was thinking $16K is about the right price.

What's up with the rest of you? no love for the 3V? there are thousands of people on here buying foxes, sn-95s, new edges... all day long and doing whatever they want with them. I asked if anybody knew the car, not if anybody thought it was a good idea to spend X-money on X-car.

Paxton, you could have saved 20 more and bought a GT500 and had X-more horsepower. WTF? (I'm just breaking your nuts 'cause I know you can handle it, don't take it personal... ) I personally like the 05-09 body style more than the new ones and they are still 200lbs lighter. with a couple basic bolt-ons, they're at 300 rwhp. That's still more than 90% of the cars on the road... maybe 95%. Plus, i'm looking for more of a DD that has a stick and a little balls that's in my budget. I don't finance cars. 24K is 50% more money than 16K. Not so much over 60 payments, but out of pocket, it is. I'm not out there trying to find the most HP per dollar I can get or I'd buy a turbo civic.

What kinda numbers you put down with those mods?

  12. #12
Im around 320 at the crank thats an estimation. I didnt put it on a dyno yet. They said it adds 30hp but I dont think thats true. With that said I am very happy with it. I can tell it pulls harder and sounds better.

I hear everything you're saying and you have some good points. $16k is a lot closer to what that car is worth.

How about an '11+ 3.7 V6? In the same neighborhood price-wise, very similar power, much better gas mileage, cheaper to insure...

it's missing 40 lb-fts of torque even on the lowly 4.6.

With a JLT cold air intake and SCT flash my '05 went 13.2. Spare tire and jack in the trunk, full weight, etc. I honestly think with great DA (it was about 1000 that day) it could have seen a 12.9 with just the CAI and flash.

I agree! I like the 05-09 cars way better!

Again just my two cents but I would rather have a 05-09 V8 way more than a 11 v6

yeah, i rented a new v6 and really was not impressed...maybe since i have a 5.0, but who knows. i rode in a red leather gt before and i think it is pretty awesome, plus with a cheap (price, not quality) axle back exhaust you can make the 3v sound heavenly. yeah, a terminator is powerful, but the interior is the same as my 97. nice looking car, go for it!

step dad has an 06 gt with the steeda charge motion delete plates, jlt series 3 intake, and a wolfpack speed dyno tune, steeda axle back and 3.55s. mike tuned it for 93 but it had 87 in it by accident car put down 308whp in that trim. ill try to post a pic of the dyno graph just to make sure im spot on with the numbers. car runs pretty good for the minimal mods
