I have to remember if I ever run into you guys NOT to race :-) I'm content to be a waxer.
BTW, best thread ever!

That's cool, I'm just trying to give some real world perspective.
I was 25 at the time, and I was good, so I made a little more, but entry level was 22-24k.
That would be about the same car-to-salary ratio today as 60-70k per year.
I don't know many blue collar workers that make that much.
I recall back in about 2001/02, I bought my first Mustang... A 1987 5.0 LX Notch, bored to 306 with exhaust, minor bolt-ons and big and littles. Ran consistent low 13's and even dipped into the 12.90's on occasion. Car was a 10 footer but looked good and had a great stance. I either paid 3000 or 3200, i can't remember... but either way, that was performance you couldn't beat for the money!
But back to the original post/pic... Speed, did you used to be a "stand in" for Burger King commercials? Your hand looks awfully familiar... like the guy that could quite grasp the Whopper! Sorry, I couldn't resist and had to join in on the fun!
Both of you guys have great runnin' cars though... equally impressive in their own right!
I have all of $3K in the T-bird with what I paid and all the mods I've done to it listed in my sig. Unless I muff something it's a dead on 14.1 car every pass, sometimes 14.0. Yes, that is slow in today's terms but I drive the hell out of it on the street and have a good time daily. If I break something then I can jump on here and find parts cheap. If I'd drop $500 in parts I could be 13.0's easily but I like it where it's at.
The only "muscle car" that is a true drivers car is a viper and guess what it sucks driving.
Nannys? You mean the traction control button? If you cant launch at 6k and pull the front wheels and shift into 2nd while the wheels are up in the air then you cant drive
