I have to remember if I ever run into you guys NOT to race :-) I'm content to be a waxer.

You gotta appreciate 2 solid runs and the time slips tale the tail. There's no shame with either, both of you guys made some great times. I am sure better than I could do. I have the shitty 1st to second grind in my GT500, I only race from a roll. I remember back in the day when low 14's and a good trap was impressive for most street cars.
I also remember when I paid $11,000 for my brand new 14 second '87 LX 5.0

Then came a 2.5" exhaust, 100 NOS kit, and DRs on 10 holes and it was a low 13 second car for $12,000

The new cars are impressive size and speed wise, but they can't compete in old school value.

11k was expensive back in the late 80's I couldn't swing that much for a new car.

To give you some perspective, at that time I was making 26k as a Ford service writer.

So 11k was less than 1/2 the annual salary of this blue collar worker.

    I recall my payments were $220 x 60 months.

That's cool, I'm just trying to give some real world perspective.

I was 25 at the time, and I was good, so I made a little more, but entry level was 22-24k.

That would be about the same car-to-salary ratio today as 60-70k per year.

I don't know many blue collar workers that make that much.

I recall back in about 2001/02, I bought my first Mustang... A 1987 5.0 LX Notch, bored to 306 with exhaust, minor bolt-ons and big and littles. Ran consistent low 13's and even dipped into the 12.90's on occasion. Car was a 10 footer but looked good and had a great stance. I either paid 3000 or 3200, i can't remember... but either way, that was performance you couldn't beat for the money!

But back to the original post/pic... Speed, did you used to be a "stand in" for Burger King commercials? Your hand looks awfully familiar... like the guy that could quite grasp the Whopper! Sorry, I couldn't resist and had to join in on the fun!

Both of you guys have great runnin' cars though... equally impressive in their own right!

I have all of $3K in the T-bird with what I paid and all the mods I've done to it listed in my sig. Unless I muff something it's a dead on 14.1 car every pass, sometimes 14.0. Yes, that is slow in today's terms but I drive the hell out of it on the street and have a good time daily. If I break something then I can jump on here and find parts cheap. If I'd drop $500 in parts I could be 13.0's easily but I like it where it's at.

you serious? Are you talking value as "collectors" or you talking value mod price compared to mod cost?

I just meant the new Mustangs and Camaros cost more money.

You get a lot more features for your money today but they have also moved up market.

They have a lot more fluff with all the nannies included. I still want to see a stripper version of todays hot rods w/ crank windows, no nannies, etc, etc.

The only "muscle car" that is a true drivers car is a viper and guess what it sucks driving.

Nannys? You mean the traction control button? If you cant launch at 6k and pull the front wheels and shift into 2nd while the wheels are up in the air then you cant drive
