I have to agree on that too.

18 model year old car with 20k miles on it with 300+ hp for 16.5k, versus a brand spankin new mustang with 300+ hp (even if it is a v6) for 7k more.

    its a tough sell.

That's one way to look at it.... but the car qualifies as a nice collectible survivor.

The market will bear what she bears.... no harm in fishing!

Also, that Cobra isn't going to lose 50% of it's value in a few years like that 2014 V6.

In fact, I'd guess that it has leveled out on its depreciation curve.

Of course it's too high, but you have to start high with a car like this....

If I owned the car I wouldn't cut it lose for less than 14k

That doesn't mean it is "worth" 14k

well thats all I meant by my point. I didn't mean it to come as a "ZOMG THIS D00D IS TEH TARD NO WAI HE GONNA GET DAT LULZ!" response, but when you put multiple factors in it does seem even for the things going for it that 16.5k was a bit high.

if what I said came off as a "ZOMG..." post that wasn't my intent.

Here's the best part. If you go to KBB and enter all the crucial info, it pops out something like $18.5 for high retail. Go to NADA and it's $9.7. high retail. No kidding. Apparently, the authorities on car values are all over the board, too.

That thing is clean as hell. One vehicle I actually like tan leather in with the black dash. Unfortunately I don't even think I could get that for my Mach 1 anymore with 11k on it not that I'm selling. You're right though, It doesn't hurt to throw the line out there. I think that car has been on there for a while too. Must be firm:D

A quick g00gle search of the phone number reveals that it's listed at $18,500 elsewhere on the innanets.

Looking at it from the backside, though, how many new cars CAN you buy today for that money with 300hp (and 300 FT LBS OF TORQUE --- something you V6 nutswingers seem to forget about), weighs 3,200 lbs or less, runs the quarter in the 13's at 100 and looks that damn good. the 94-98 Cobra > *** in the looks department. '96 was the first year for OBDII, so other than traction control that you can obviously switch off, it has no other nancy controls, either. it's cheap as hell to modify and parts are plentiful.

With that being said, I think it's worth $12K tops. :)

A V6 Toyota Camry runs damn close to 13s at near 100, even though they are the most boring car in the history of the world and I have contempt for anyone that owns one of the rolling refrigerators. Torque was not one of the DOHC Cobras fortes, so I think it is a non-issue. I had a '96, it was a pig.

Funny, because the v6 even without being 3200 pounds or having 300lb-ft of torque (something brought in as an afterthought from a v8 fanboy upset that a lowly v6 has 300hp) it still runs the quarter in the 13's at 100 stock. Looks are subjective, and I'm sure in 2028 parts will be just as plentiful for this gen as they are for that one, probably even more so as companies bow to pressure to make cars run on 50cc engines.

    18.5k though? wow....

by pig, do you mean heavy or slow or both? and, did that pig have lipstick?

relatively, speaking it was the first Mustang in 25+ years to have a small block with 300hp. then, other than the Termi and Mach 1, for another 9 years...
