    Speed isn't everything.

Some of you guys just don't appreciate rare classic cars. That's cool, you keep buying new ones, so we'll have older cars to collect. Here we have the first DOHC V8 Mustang. Forerunner to the 5.0 / 5.4 legacy. With advanced engineering and radical styling for a production Mustang. A stepping stone (like Mustangs before it) to the modern era. A link in the chain. Nostalgia. To some folks it becomes more than performance per dollar. It is a collectible classic car. And a very clean example at that!

Very well said, but I think the latest horsepower war has bitten most of us around here and the respect for some of the muscle cars of 15-20 years ago just isn't there. I mean think of it this way...

    - Back in 95 a Z28 Camaro came with the LT1 rated at 275 HP I believe and these cars ran good - high 13's and low 14's were the average
    - Three years later when the LS1 was put into Camaros, they were right around 315 and the difference was great - low 13 second car if you could drive off the showroom
    - Then the 03/4 Cobras were released and we all know what we think of them with 390 HP
    - Move to 07 - 500 HP was out of this world with the new Shelby GT500 and low/mid 12's were no problem
    - Now in 2013 - You have cars with 600+ rolling off the showroom floors dipping well into the 11's and our average DD is cracking into the 13's.

But in reality from the late 60's-mid late 90's - factory showroom performance vehicles were kind of at a stand-still where if you could run anything from high 12's-low 14's was pretty damn good. The technology and innovations just over the past few years is incredible and we have lost sight of how fast a 13 second 1/4 mile time is. These guys running in 12's and lower are flyin' in my opinion, no matter what the car or brand on the grill.

relatively, speaking it was the first Mustang in 25+ years to have a small block with 300hp. then, other than the Termi and Mach 1, for another 9 years...
It was slow. Wasn't even all that quick in 1998 terms when I had it, sold it after 3 months and bought a fox. Would have been much happier with a LS1 camarobird.

How is there a contradiction? Just because something is not for me (granted, i exaggerated to make that point, but still...) doesn't mean I immediately think it sucks. How convenient you dont quote anything from my initial review of the v6 where I was extremely impressed with many features of the car that carry over to the v8. The statement you are trying to take out of context simply says that FOR ME and what *I* like in power the v6 was a waste of time. Probably also explains why I wouldn't buy this cobra.

Interesting though, because what you quote from me completely disproves what you said:

How can I be a "v6 nutswinger" since based on the interpretation of what you quoted I allegedly hate it?

    Talk about contradiction. :(

Those cars were so under-geared from the factory. A 4.10 or 4.30 really wakes them up. That thing with a Vortech and 4.30 gear would be awesome (but not for $16K initial price).

Witnessed a bone stock 98 cobra go 13.3xx at "Keystone" circa 1998. No tire. Driver was roughly 180 lbs. Launch rpm close to 5,000
