New DD to replace the Bimmer

When i bought my X5, i was actually looking at one of these, but my wife HAD to have a SUV. I finally convinced her that she didn't need one, so I picked it up on Friday ....

    Jaguar XF Supercharged
Took these pics in Maryland, as I picked the car up on the way to a business conference in Baltimore.... I originally didn't think i'd like the wheels, but they look much better in person than they do in photos

Car runs good..... extremely smooth for a car with so much power.... i'm so used to something that ROARS when you press down the pedal.... this thing just pushes you back and you can't hardly hear it over the radio....
Handling is really good as well for a big sedan... i would say it handles much better than it feels... it has seats that are definitely designed more for comfort than holding you in place... i've already pushed it into turns and the car turns great, but i feel my butt sliding across the freshly cleaned seats

absolutely love it..... couldn't be happier.... gorgeous looking car, with the best interior out there... just classy in every single way...... my biggest concern before buying was the reliability, as Jaguar is known to be plagued with electrical issues, even in this day in age.... The new cars to this day still have gremlins - nothing that will leave you stranded, but annoyances - however, after doing a ton of research, once the issue(s) have been resolved, almost always under warranty, the car seems to have great reliability.... People just get super aggrivated that they have to take their $80K car in for fixes several times in the first 20K miles... which is undestandable... From what i read the issues will show themsevles in the first 30K miles in every single case, so if you buy one with more than that many miles, you should be good.

One thing to note... these cars were made from 2009+ ... 2009 is the only year where you can change the oil the conventional way.... 2010+ there is no drain plug, and you need an evacuation pump..... its really stupid, but lets face it, the "average" person buying this car doesnt care, because they don't change their own oil anyhow.

When i was looking for one, i didn't really care about getting the SC model (even though that's what i ended up with).... i was willing to pay more for it, but i would have sufficed for teh "premium" model... the advantage of getting the high-end SC model is that you don't have to search for one with the options you want... the SC model comes with every single option.... the only add-on available was the speical sensitive cruise control...

The SC model also supposedly has a much firmer and sportier suspension... but it still feels like pillow-y cushion compared to the racing coil-overs in the vette, so i don't notice it being overly firm...

oh, and did i mention that its an utterly gorgeous car? lol it does get a lot of attention for a non-sports car

    mine is black/black...

the only thing i'd rather have is the black/spice... the spice interior is like the orange-ish brown leather, wiht black carpets, etc... really awesome looking, but REALLY hard to find.... i looked for about 4 months before we bought the BMW, and then another 2 months before i picked this up, and i only every saw 1 for sale.... and it was before we bought the BMW, else i'd have owned it

I sampled a friend's 2010 Supercharged and flat loved it.

I really thought about buying one, but I'm not sure our clients would appreciate seeing me roll up in a Jag, so I got an Ecoboost MKS instead. I was buying used either way, and the price difference between the '11 MKS and a '10 Jag was only a few thousand bucks. I think the Lincoln was a great value and the Jag an outstanding value, but figured I'd have to explain the Jag everywhere I went. Such is life!

    I still want one.

You're in sales of some sort, i assume? My brother struggled with this for a long time in his job... he was always afraid of having a real nice luxury car, for fear that people would get that "well now i know where my money is going" attitude..... so for years he drove around a newer Hyundai... but i think about 2 years ago he bought an Infiniti M37 and i think he's very happy he did..... It can kinda go the other way as well - people see a nice car and think its a measure of how successful you are, and they want to piggy back on that success.... just gotta know your clientel i guess!

That's crazy about the oil! Guess I would have to drill a hole in the pan and weld a bung for a drian plug on it if I would go to change oil and be like WTF? I'm assuming you got a 09. Wonder how it will like the snow?

Here's the one I saw on the way to the office:

I'm sure it'll suck in the snow, but i don't get too worked up over it... my Lexus was RWD and it wasn't that bad... the traction control systems are so sensitive nowadays they won't let you get into trouble...

For a non-SC model, and miles that low, that's a pretty good price..... i was at a Smail dealer once and really didnt like them, but it wouldn't sway me from dealing with them if they had something i really wanted for the right price

Stopped and drove it yesterday after work. Besides almost getting T-boned by some idiot in a mini van on Rt. 30, it drove nice. Major problem is that there is simply no room in the damn thing, which sprised the hell out of me. Being 6'4" and 320 lbs, has its disadvantage when it comes to cars. The salesman and I were shoulder to shoulder in the front seat and even my 3 year old son Colt would have problems with leg room trying to sit behind me. It's not for me.

What did shock the hell out of me was the Kia Cadenza I also looked at there. Man Kia has come a long way! That is a really nice car and had room for a full sized adult to sit behind me without their knees touching the drivers seat. More room than any 5 series BMW i looked at and has just as nice finishes to it. Just need to figure out if I can bring myself to spend 40k for a Kia.

that's weird... i'm 6'2.5" and i don't have any issues with the room.... and even with me sitting in the front seat, i can get out and get in the back seat with no issues......
