My opinion on 4.10 vs 3.73 in a 4.6L equipped vehicle.

Just felt the need to give my opinion on gears with the 4.6 in case anyone else is thinking about gears. I had a pi-swapped '97 that had 4.10 in it and I just acquired an '01 that has 3.73.

I like the 3.73 much better. The 4.10 are a nice gear and get you into the power, but a little too high-strung. And... 4th runs out about 110 and 5th is DEATH. Not that I do many high-speed runs, but it's nice to bang up to 120 once in a while.

If you're drag racing, get 4.10 or even 4.30, but if you're more of a cruiser like me, the 3.73 will make you happier. They're obviously right in between 3.27 and 4.10 and they feel like it, too. You can get into the power pretty quick and yet you can relax and cruise at 2,300 on the highway.

Thats why I put the 373's in it. They are a good all around gear and still get decent gas mileage.

My 00 Was happy with 3:27s Ran REAL GOOD!!!! I was going to go with 4.10s but sold it. :)
