    I know, I'm weird...

But I have always had a thing for wagons and when the opportunity came up to trade for this one over the weekend I couldn't resist. Long story short, I traded the pictured 40 Chevy coupe for the wagon. The coupe needed a TON of work, money and time to be road worthy, while the wagon only needed a driver so the decision was pretty easy for me.

The wagon is a 1970 Impala Kingswood nine passenger model... yes 9 people! It still has the stock 350 and powerglide for the time being, but might swap this out in the future in place of a big block and 3 speed auto or atleast do a refresh on the old 350 this winter. The wagon is in pretty good overall shape, especially the interior, but it needs a few things as time and money allow. So far I've logged about 150 miles (150 more than what the coupe was capable of) and have been smiling ever since.

Nice trade. Didnt know they made an impala wagon in '70. Any wagon past '73 is cool.

Yeah, I love all of the old wagons too. I actually almost bought a 56 Ford wagon outright about a month ago and am sure glad I passed since I was able to just trade for this one.

Wagons are awesome! Wow - you made a killer deal there. How about some pics of the interior, engine, and underneath? Is the body solid or does it have some issues?

I have wagon fetish as well. Drives my wife nuts when I tell her about them and how they were screwed out of existence by the minivan. I keep threatening her with buying one, she's not amused.

That one there looks great. I'm not a fan of low profile tires/lowered on older cars. But everyone has their own thing which is cool.

I actually have a pretty healthy 406 on a stand ready to go that I was saving for another project, but this wagon has me tempted to use it in there...

I'm not typicallly either, but these wheels came on the car and for being 18's up front and 20's in the back they actually have a pretty good size sidewall (probably 3.5-5 inches). I'm going to keep them on for the time being since the suspension was adjusted for them, but I may change them out in the future for a little more of a "classic" look.

Yeah, I'm pretty stoked to have it. I know it doesn't make much sense living in and growing up in western PA but I've always loved surfing and what goes better with surfing than a cool old wagon. For being about 43 years old and 20 feet long, the car is actually pretty damn straight. The drivers side quarter panel could use some attention down the road but will do for now. The car will need a repaint too but that's not a major concern of mine at this moment. Not sure how long ago it was sprayed, but some of the clear is starting to peel on top of the body lines.

Didn't snap any pics of the interior or motor yet but it's nothing special - especially the engine compartment (winter project will be to clean this up a little). One of my favorite things about it is, the third row seat actually faces out the back - pretty cool. Plus the rear gate folds down or can be opened "swing" style and has a little built-in step for the third row seaters.

This was my 7-year old's favorite car at the GPMC show at Shults this year...

These days I find myself liking stuff that is different/cool more than stuff that is fast. Now...if it is different AND fast then that definitely is a good thing!

    Another wagon fan here too.
Real nice, Trav!! I dig it! I like the third seat too.... rode in the back of our LTD and Torino wagons that way as a kid.
Bob, I was wondering about the Pinto wagon.
