Wy not just use it in the fox? Input shaft is only slightly longer. The drive shaft will go in to the rear of the tranny far enough t put it all in the fox. Ran one in one of my foxes for years with zero issues. You can even use it with a fox bell housing. Just need to make up a spacer to go between the tyranny and bell housing.

Could I grind the tip of the input shaft down some. Also what about the bearing retainer? I'm putting this in a ranger and just can't use the sn bell housing due to shift fork location difference than the fox

Just went through this. I know some have done it with success, but I wouldn't run the trans without shortening the DS.

I had my aluminum DS shortened and balanced for $100.

Or you could just swap fox inputs, and get a fox bell. I did that a few times back in the day.

If I learned anything over the years do not buy a used t5 for cheap unless u get to test drive it first or see inside it, just my .02, I do have a fox bell here and will trade you if need be for your sn bell, I also have a fox input, but need to know which T5 you have first, either has needle bearings where it meets the main shaft, or has a caged roller bearing (world class t5)
