I'm looking for a set of 96-98 tail lights.
I'm looking for a set of 96-98 tail lights.
Stangin'94 GT Convertible, 5 Speed ( '07- '?? )90 GT ( '93-'07 - 14 Years - 250,000+ miles "The 1/4 Million Mile Stallion" ) *SOLD*84 Convertible, 3.8, Automatic ( '97-'99 )
I have a set on a 1997 I am dismantling. Blue in color.
Cool, what are you asking for them, really looking for either Bright Red or Black, but anything can be painted. They are going in a 94, so I'm gonna need to find the wiring adapters as well.

How much of the wiring do you want, I am parting the whole car?
I'm not too sure. My understanding is that in order to put 96-98 lights in a 94/95, there is some kind of adapter needed. I just switched from a 90 to a 94 and I am not as familiar with all the little tricks on this year. Any additional info you can provide would certainly be helpful.

Good idea, still need to know what $$$ we're lookin' at.
Hey Jared, remember the comment about my car looking like yours "on crack"?
After 14 years it rolled away today. Actually still runnin' strong as h*ll. I laid a pair of tire marks in front of the house before it left, just one last time.

All you need is the tail lights and harness as Jared said, it'll simply plug into where the 94-95 harness did. Usually people are doing the opposite and switching back from 96-up lights to the '94-95's on actual 94-95's. Its the one defining characteristic of our cars, and most 94-95 owners shun the idea of putting the 96-up lights on these cars. Its your car so do as you wish, I'm simply telling you this because you may find someone who bought a used car that a previous owner had switched to 96-98 lights and now want to switch back to real '94-95 lights.

I hadn't really looked at it from that perspective, it would make sense to leave the original look in tact since was only avail. for 2 years. That is really valuable info.
Obviously your want your car to stand out somewhat from the crowd, but with a blank canvas to start from, there are so many ways to go. What I don't want to do is make the car boring or worse yet, gaudy. Right now what I'm working with is Bight Red, Tan leather & top, and the black trim. I would like to individulize it, but tastefully. The aftermarket world really gives you too many options. That's just appearance. Then there is the whole power & performance part of it too. Just trying to be cautious.

imo leave the 94-95 lights.....
i swapped mine over to 96-98, just switch the harness. im still likin the change.
im into old stangs as well and i hated the fact mine had horizontal tail lights. i had to go back to some vertical tail lights
Well if there is anything I can do to help let me know. I've changed my mind many times over the years in terms of the look, performance and execution of my car and I'm now going for a cleaner look with my new body parts and a big more wild with the performance stuff.
A classic and mean look IMO is a cobra front bumper with a cobra R hood and a saleen S-281 wing; add some lowering springs and 315 series tires out back with a staggered wheel and man will it look wicked! Its subtle and mean at the same time. If you want to make it a little more unique you can get a front chin spoiler for the cobra front. As you said, there are a ton of options out there and it can be overwhelming, but that's the fun part of it too!
I too vote to keep the 94-95 tail lights, but I am obviously biased. :) I actually own 2 extra sets in case I ever damage one.
