Torqueboxer and I limped my Z06 out to the Jersey/Pa border to get a good trans for mine when I had it, and put it in the trunk. Corvette guys loved that.

I voted 03-04 Cobra cause I think with about 4 to 5 grand they have the potential to be a serious Street/track monster. They also seem to be holding there value well so when you sell you should get most of your $ back. So spend roughly 30 grand and wax almost any foreign exotics ass that cost 3 to 4 times as much.

Back in the late 80's early 90's I would have said GN's but parts now are getting to be very scarce for those. Those cars with just minimal amounts of $ could do 11's easily.

Meh thats BS. People that have never priced it thinking because it's a corvette it's expensive.

Can buy a full set of upgraded shocks for $370 for example.

Can buy upgraded GM swaybars and bushing for $199.

The only thing I can say is completely retarded is the cost for a catback for those things. Granted anything stainless isn't cheap but over 1k for a corsa CB? I'm getting one regardless of price, just seems like robbery to me. The brakes really surprised me though as you pointed out. Super cheap.

Stainless Works is good stuff Matt. Only thing I'm disappointed in is its not loud enough for me.

F body (ls1) best bang for the buck overall. I bought my last 99 SS for less than 6k, put on a set of summit knock-off prostars and a used nitrous kit and it last ran 11.2 @ 125. Hard to beat that. There was less than 7500 in that car total. I'd say the 03-04 cobra is probably the second best bang for the buck ford with great power but a costly car to still buy and they aren't getting any newer. I'd say an 11 GT is probably the best bang for the buck Mustang at this point

you're right, mods will definitely include the "corvette tax" .... comparable mods to a f-body have always been far more expensive for the Vette... but that's upgrades... the statement above said that its an expensive car to maintain, which to me implies regular maintenance - brakes, oil, fixing broken parts, etc... which is where that statement is SOOO wrong... both C5 and C6 corvettes are dead-nutz reliable (even modded ones) and are not expensive at all to fix when they do require maintenance....

My answer to the above would be the C5 Vette.... C6's still hold decent value, but C5's have gotten rocked... you can buy one in the low teens (or cheaper) and still have a damn good all around performing car, along with good looks... some people are crazy and still want crazy prices (see Z06 owners) but they can live in their delusional world and continue to let their cars sit and collect dust

    - bolt-ons, tune, lots of carbon fiber (642/671 rwhp/tq)

I agree with you. The C5 market is all over the board right now. I sent a deposit on an FRC last week but the deal fell through after the owner sent me these pics that were not in the original ad. Kinda bummed but that's life..pass rad supp..pnguntitled.png

Perfectly normal condition of most Corvettes. I have plenty of scrapes... Shit I even have a branch that went through that plastic air dam. They make glue on ABS covers to put over the scraped up metal sliders since it happens so often.

Yeah I know they take a lot of abuse but my big concern was the way the rad. supports look. I may be over reacting, but it's the unknown that scares me. I was checking out those slip on covers for those supports along with the covers for the plastic...good idea there..

Tough to tell from those pics if the scratches are just on the underneath, or if they'd actually be visible when looking at the car.... if they're just underneath, i wouldnt' worry...

Also, the rad supports wouldnt' bother me much either.

Yeah, that's the thing. The scratches almost come up to the front Plate housing or whatever you call it. Heres a pic.

ooohh... yea that's a little bit more than i expected.... that's really all just up to personal taste and what kinda deal you're getting....

I dont' knwo how people do it... my Vettes both drug WAY less than my fbodies, and mine now has literally 2.5" of clearance on the front bumper... i know i'm VERY careful, but it boggles my mind how people can't just stop before they get to the curb

I wouldn't worry about that for a second John. Mine were more beat up than that, around here they are going to hit.

I think C5s are the best deal going, although I hated mine as a street car, it was great on track.
