Well gp kinda hesitant on doing engine work until I can find gd info about speed density and what I can do with it and it is hard as hell to find a used ecm and wiring harness used and dont want to carb it cause carb setup is too picky efi is the only way to go

You can go fairly far with SD, I couldn't get the car to run right with an N41 cam, but it ran very well with cylinder heads and intake manifold plus bolt ons. Don't necessarily have to swap to mass air to get into the mid 12s NA.

Do the MAF swap and drop an Explorer motor in it that already has the P heads and better intake.

This. Don't bother with E7s waste of time. They are slightly less horrible than the pathetically ****tarded '86 heads, but it would be better to use the somewhat decent but really cheap GT40ps.

I used them on an '86 shortblock with a stock cam and 1.6s, but the valve clearance is clooooooossssse (no valve reliefs). Explorer intake and heads with a TB can be done for a few hundred bucks, and I made 258 rwhp way back in '01, car went 12.70@106 on little 235 BFG DRs.

86 pistons are forged, explorer ones are not...just sayin. Also, as far as the mass air conversion goes, I did it to my 86 with zero issues. I bought a conversion harness, which requires you to splice into the original harness and change out a couple pins in the ecu. Not that hard at all.

LS swap it & be done. The new owner of my swapped Fox just went 12.6x @ 108 with a STOCK, choked up 5.3 that needed a real tune.
