Spent the weekend in a new mustang...

My wife was out in California for work this past week so we used some of her airline points to fly me out there on Thursday. Ended up renting a new mustang GT from Hertz. I didn't realize they had special edition ones till we got out there. It had some nice upgrades to make the experience a little better. Had brembo's, recaros, GT500 mufflers, and supposedly a few other tweaks. The best part is it was only $35/day. We still have no idea why it was so cheap. They're like $165/day for every other day and place I've looked at. Must have been some kind of sale that we didn't know about. They do have them in Pittsburgh though for anyone else who's interested in trying one out for a day or two. The car had 450 miles on it when we picked it up and I put about 950 more on it over the next three days. Got to see some cool places and drive on some really nice roads. Went to see Yosemite, Giant Sequoias, and drove up the coast back to San Francisco where we started. I'll spare you the boring vacation pics, but here are a few I took of the car along the way...

Very cool - I think someone (Darren?) snapped a photo of several of those Hertz GT's on a car carrier a month or so ago. Those cars are under the radar right now, unlike the earlier 4.6 SN197 variety, that was selling for crazy money several years ago.

There's supposedly only 150 of these new ones. I'm sure when Hertz sells them they'll get good money for them. Not sure I'd want one after a bunch of idiots like me have beat on it though, lol. Ours went 140 on those desert roads with no trouble

What was crazy was when the 4.6 Hertz cars were selling for $60-$75k. Approx triple what the regular GTs went for.

These new ones really seem nice. Ford should offer regular GTs with the GT500 exhaust...

Holy crap is that a tree?

That also reminds me of this:
Time was 13.86 probably. I think there were lights burned out and it just looked like a 13.26. Best pass of the day was 13.63.
This was at a NVMC track rental. The Hertz Mustang was on street tires which did NOT like the track and my Focus had drag radials.

Yeah, the sequoias are ridiculous. Pictures don't really do them justice. Here's another pic of the whole tree that the car was next to...

Haha, I definitely thought about it. I did a couple small ones, but I was worried about them checking the tires when I brought it back
