Stupid question about rules at Test and Tunes

Went 9s keeps bugging me to run the A/S car at PRP for laughs, but the car has gutted doors and no side windows. I do have lexan windows I can tape in or something if I had to. The question is, can I run with no door windows or do I have to have them in? Car has full cage and fire system, not that it is going anywhere near 11.49...

i'd say your best bet is to run no windows. many of the nostalgic races i go to there are numerous hot rod roadsters with no tops/windows.... not sure how fast your car is but these guys obviously have to wear a helmet no matter there time

You can run a convertible down the track with the top down so I see no reason door windows would need to be up.

I go to prp quite often and have never seen a convertible run with the top down.
The rules are windows up, but they may let you run since you have a cage. Idk. Maybe email them and ask ?

I was just speaking in general, I don't know what PRP's rules are. I have seen several 7-8 second 1/4 mile convertible cars go with the top down over the years at different tracks etc...

I think it is all relative to the ET's that you run and the cage you have to support it... they go hand in hand.

Every track I've been to makes you put your windows and top up. Quaker, PRP, even the old mercer track.

Yeah, I see shit without windows every time I go up there, just not sure what the rules are concerning cars that do not have windows. Can't remember ever seeing a closed roof car with no windows up there. I did run the Cobra replica and they didn't make us put the top and windows in.

Check out page 41 under Body: "Convertible top cars must run with the top up."
Page 44 Windows: "Windows must be operative, but closed during competition."
    Page 61 11:50 - 13:49: Body just says mandatory?
Page 62 Cont. - Windows must be closed during competition, but need not be operational.

The body part seems a little big gray, but windows seem definite. I'd say your best bet is to find a laid back track, and hope they let you race.

Worst case scenario we will just ghetto the lexan "transport" windows in with duct tape or something. Thank you for looking at the rule book, I looked real quick online and couldn't find one.

Not a problem. I have the site saved on my phone because I kept forgetting the helmet requirement.

My last hillclimb is next weekend, so probably the test and tune day afterwards. Rather not break the car before the last event, planning on putting went9s ET Streets on.

Gotcha, we've been going out as much as possible lately since our days are numbered. Post up when you go I'd like to see it run.

Just to further mess with this idea ....

    http://pittsburghracewaypark.com/schedule.php

this Thursday is the last test and tune of the season, then you get into box / no box, bracket finals, etc. if you don't make this weeks, it's pushing the end of September before another.

i think if you tried this, even if tech said okay, the water box guys and the starter would wear you out telling you to put them up every pass.

most open cars like dragsters and altereds require arm restraints and other safety gear.
