    Bought my first motorcycle (pics)

Bought my first motorcycle. Honda 350. Needs a new battery, oil change and tires etc. But I got it for next to nothing.

Figure this will be a good starter bike.

did you start it up and make sure it runs and rides fine??

From the pics, it appears it may need some work to be road worthy....

I got it off a guy my dad knows very well. Said it needs a new battery, spark plugs, oil change. It did run when he put it away. Story behind it is that his friend passed away a year ago and left him two bikes.

I would personally drain all old gas out of that thing before even attempting to turn it over. possibly even pull the carb and give it a shot of cleaner too.

All very good points... Better be safe than sorry, especially when your on just two wheels! Also, not sure what your plans are but these older Honda's make killer Cafe' Racers...

Yeah, I figure mess with it over the winter. Take care of the rust, tune it up, tires, brakes etc.

And I agree, we are going to drain the gas and fluids. If it cranks ill be happy. I've kind I lost interest in the mustang right now so this will be good to keep me busy.

Bought a new battery, charged it and the bike turned over and ran for a second. That's good news. Oil looked brand new, that's also good. After work tomarrow I'm gonna pull the plugs etc. I'm really happy so far.

Looks like you're in the perfect place to turn this into one. Already needs a new seat. Something like this would be bad ass:

Yeah, I'm going for a cafe racer look. I found the seat I want on eBay as well as clubman bars. I'm gonna order carb rebuilds, got the tank off last night and they arnt getting fuel.

Started ripping it apart tonight. Labels wiring, wire brushed, took off rear fender, tool box, battery box and so on.

Slowly getting a good size parts list together to order.

    Thanks for the motivation!

I was at first going to try to stay a stock as possible but I've decided to do my own thing. Going to cafe racer it. Got most of the parts I'm going to need written down. I'm going to order all at once. I'm gonna need a triple tree plate, clubmen handle bars, clutch/brake cable, smaller tail light/markers, carb rebuild kits, and a cafe seat. I've got to paint everything as well, like the frame. The battery box is rusty as well. I really need to find someone or somewhere with a media blaster.
