    tnt friday 9-27 at prp

I have never been to a TNT at Prp on a week night, so since the weather looks good for this Friday, I was thinking about going. The problem is that when I have gone on Saturdays, its always packed and I have only ever got 3 runs. Are the weeknight TNT's generally packed? For me to make the trip, I'd like to get more than 3 passes. Anyone have any feedback? Thanks.

I would like to hear some of the regulars chime in as well. I have some testing I would like to do before the NMRA finals and if I can have my car ready by Friday, PRP would be the most convenient way for me to do so. After years of not going there I finally went last October and it was the SOS, I made 1 pass and left. For any of the regulars that go, what's the scoop?

Tough call. I think with a Friday, good air, and the way timing has worked out, it's going to be busy. The last Thursday TnT rained out, bracket finals last weekend, then Nostalgia this weekend with limited options for most guys to race.

Even if packed, I can see 4-5 runs if no big oil down events. I also suspect if you are committed to stay, you will get more as the place tends to clear out after the third run and by then it will be pretty cool.

You just never know. I've gone out expecting the place to be packed and got 6 runs, gone expecting to test and struggled to get three in. The trend is more to 4-5 runs unless something bad happens if you are there on time and stay to the end.

    In other words, I don't know :)

I think Bob is correct. First, no one knows... oil downs happen, track has no control over those. A big crowd is a double edged sword... you get to see some awesome cars, but it may take a run or 2 away from you. I would think there may be some of the UMTR/Pro Stick cars testing Friday night, possibly some of the Stock/Super Stockers as well, particularly those traveling in. Bob is exactly right about if you're committed to staying, you'll see the crowd thin out. Also, Greg has never been afraid to go past the scheduled ending time.

My 2 cents.... how often do you get to race in these conditions? Clear dry air, cool night temps, and a nice crowd in the lanes and stands, and for most people, no work the next day.

Isn't 9/29 Sunday? Is there a way to change a typo in the title of a thread?

I've been having the same debate Ed (no traffic issues). Test Friday in good air on a TnT / cold track versus race Saturday in worse air but warm and likely better prep. I'm only gong one day and right now stick shift racing Saturday is winning, but if the DA is low, I might change my mind. Either way I'll likely be there Friday.

So 4-5 runs makes me think that it might be reasonable. If i go, i will stay to the end, so that may help.

I know the people leaking stuff thing is unpredictable, but every saturday i have gone, people tow in garbage and break and leak. Its always from someone that stages to the left of the normal lanes.

I am going to go as long as the weather stays as predicted, rain wise. ill be shootin for 11s for the first time. best from late last year was 12.12 at 123 with only 3 passes on this car.

    thanks for the feedback guys.

i will also try to change the date in the title, stupid cell phone.

Ok, now I don't think you're exactly right. If things start on time Friday, track temp should be fine, and as long as there are no oil downs, track temp should stay steady. One of the reasons this is a Friday night test and tune is so that the guys racing Saturday, especially in the stick classes, could come it and get some hits, so I expect track prep to be very good.

Couple things about breakage on Saturdays, without knowing what day(s) you went... the overwhelming majority of bracket cars are dedicated race cars, built to be on the edge. Parts are going to break. I will agree with you that yes, there are some hack jobs out there. A test and tune has at least half, if not more, of the cars driving in and driving home... changes how the cars get driven down the track compared to the race only cars.

And there's no telling, parts can go any time... my 12 second pump gas street driven, street legal Cutlass went boom in a big way last October. Either the bearing spun or the rod bolt broke, carnage is too severe to say which happened first. When you lean hard on a car, you will find weak spots on occasion. Even with more rpm (Bob and Ed!).

For a while, we saw more clean up than racing. Place was packed but bad luck was abundant.

The down time gave Chuck lots of time to screw with the spectators ;)
