I have power wires on the winch that I just run up to the truck battery as needed. Since I rarely use it, the wires are always in good shape tucked away in the box with the winch and not waiting to corrode or have a ground fail.

Put a disconnect or inline switch at the battery to avoid any issues with permanent wires..or ur way works with hooking up to the battery each time. Benefit of nicely tucked permanent wires is u can winch ur truck without dealing with loose temp wires.

Borrowed my buddy's 6.5 foot ramps today and I'm thrilled to report that my '66 went on and off the trailer with zero scraping. The car is SO low that I was worried it wouldn't clear. So...I will be ordering a set of these ramps. They easily weigh 80 pounds each, but for $250 I think these powdercoated beasts are a steal. Also - the 2x12" boards I added to the deck allowed the doors to clear the trailer fenders...by maybe 1/4". I wonder if Santa will bring me a winch...
