rather burn it to the ground?
I think it's just that he is going through what we all go through at one time or another. Some more than others. He has just put so much into that car, (Sounds like one Kick A** Notch to me) that he can not bear the thought of what he feels give it away. He does have some serious coin in it. That and he probably doesn't want to get rid of it anyway. My old boss had a good term to always remember " A car is worth as much as somebody is willing to pay for it." And to be honest, that could go for anything.
thats crazy....

20k, WOW. Better be a perfect car in every sense of the word.. I have about 28 in mine right now and if I were forced to sell it, wouldnt expect to get more than 15 to 18 at MOST (just cause of how plentiful they are... I love em, but they ARE like assholes! LOL)
No matter how good a deal someone is offering something for, there are people out there that will always try to lowball further. Any parts I sell that are in great/new condition get listed for 50% of retail or whatever the most common price is. An absolute steal in some cases. And yet there are people who want it cut even further, then get indignant when I say no. F those guys, I say. Lowballing sucks, and so do the people who practice it!
He's just making it lear to those people, because he's probably tired of hearing from them. Friggin cheap ba$tards.
Life is a Journey, enjoy each moment. Don't take life to seriously, none of us make it out alive anyway.

My engine builder/best friend and I have a saying whenever someone lowballs us on something... "I'd rather take it out back and smash it with a tackhammer and send you pics of me doing so rather than sell it for that much. This isn't UNICEF'.
Really offends people but yeah, weeds out the jokers.
We had a '88 Turbo Coupe roller that was LOADED with new parts and had all the interior clean and correct, was a 5-speed car and had a lot of nice year-model-specific stuff on it that is pretty highly desirable to the TC crowd. He tossed it on tccoa and a couple other boards as $500 for the roller (was clean, rust free and only needed the motor we robbed for the SVO) or make reasonable offer on parts.
He found himself saying 'I'd rather run it over with my F350 and burn it than sell it for that much' so many times that we actually ended up taking the ****er out back, running it over with the F350 and burning it. Of course we were drunk and it seemed like a great idea at the time... I think a chainsaw, a plastic duck, a lawn tractor, cap from a bronco and a perfectly good above ground swimming pool all perished in that fire as well. I have video of it on my old PC which was sent to the lowballers as promised.

I'm not saying he is asking too much, just to burn it down....damn! I would just keep it!
Well, as much as the car world is full of lowballers..
Its also full of people who think everything they own is gold and who sometimes aren't able to come to grips with the fact that something is ONLY worth as much as someone else is willing to pay for it...
I dabble now and then in some pretty rare old cars (mainly Cougars). I had one that was one of 1 ever built (that color, one of 11 68 428cj 4spd Cougars ever built). It was a basket case though. I bought it as a parts car (the guy didnt know what he had). EVERYONE in the hobby told me it was worth 10K the way it set when I owned it. So I put it up for sale.. and I waited, and waited, and waited, and waited.. Finally one day a guy called, was serious and offered me 8k.. I sold it and even though I "supposedly" didnt get what it was worth (again, ANYTHING is only worth what someone is willing to pay), I was tickled to death..
Same goes with selling newer cars only its worse.. We all know you can buy a built car WAY cheaper than you can buy the parts and build one. Thats just how the game goes.. Anyone who says "I'd rather burn it or run it over"... Well, in my opinion, is just a fool who shouldn't try to play this "game".. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, you can't always win.
When you have something for sale, if your smart, you start out by trying to sell it for what you "think" it is worth. Hopefully someone buys it for that. If not, eventually, you have to come to grips with reality and be willing to either shut up and keep it, or sell it for what it brings (actual market value).
You cant concretely base pricing on what something else sold for because sometimes people who want a certain thing bad enough will over pay for something.. I see it ALL the time on Ebay.
