Pure Street back to NMRA for 2014

I've thought most of the moves lately have been in the right direction. Coyote stock is blowing up, the Pro Pledge was showing results, even Coyote modified should be a good class. Killing it in the first place then bring it back? Not sure what the thinking is here.

It will be interesting what comes out for this.

I'm still confused about bringing it back, but a former racer for this class pointed out that the rules now likely have the three most popular combos within 1/10th. I still don't see people building cars for the class but they are still out there. He said they will make three or 4 races if the rules stay like this and he knows of two more cars that could be back with minor changes.

i used to love to watch these cars run, and hope it works, but still not sure we will see over 5 cars a race.

I've beensaying that for years, but think the NMRA is still the much stronger group, and dilution with the other brands might hurt the turn out??. Look at Norwalk, it was still maybe 50% Ford cars for NMCA (not counting the Cobra Jets) yet the NMRA Ford race was bigger. The NMCA also has the LSx stuff as a draw on it;s own. As long as they have class sponsors for both groups, I'm not seeing it happen now (and I really thought it would of happened). Interesting topic for sure.

It's crazy what has happened. A few years ago they alllowed the NMCA Mean Street/Pure Street cross over, which I thought was a good idea. Then they get rid of Pure Street, re-write the Mean Street rules to accept them. Then for various reasons most of the original MS guys get pissed off and leave. Meanwhile for 2014 Dave W becomes the new tech director and drops Mean Street and debuts NA Unlimited. This causes an uproar so NMCA/NMRA drops NA Unlimited and brings Pure Street back.

So I'm left with a car that doesn't fit anywhere! I might try some local index racing.

True Street is pretty much index racing except the top spots ;)

there was a Facebook post that Quaker City was working out something to add index racing to their 2014 Schedule. There was going to be something like a 11.50 street index, plus a couple of faster ones. I like the idea, just haven't heard anything since.

im still confused with Pure Street coming back ;)

    Yeah surprised me as well.

I had fun running C/S this past year. That new coyote motor is bad to the bone!

Just a little stock coyote that runs low 10s!
