    Paxton's New DD

My 1994 F150 was feeling too small for hauling around my harem, so I bought this today - she's a 2005 F250 crew cab long bed. The PO took great care of her. After I got her home today I gave her a quick wash and hit the tires & trim with some Meguiars Ture & Trim gel ( love this stuff - it isn't too glossy - looks just right to me ). Anyway, here she is...

I love the way it rides with the long wheelbase, & the kids love all the room in the back. My wife even drove it and seems to like it. (She HATES my F150, so this was a welcome surprise ). Nothing fancy inside other than the factory 6 CD changer. The factory trailer brake controller and 5-speed auto are nice, and the 300 horse / 365 lb ft of torque gets her moving and keeps up with turnpike traffic with ease.

    Merry Xmas to me!!

That's a huge upgrade in trucks. Best of luck. What gears are in it?

Good question Dan! I will have to check the door tag. In the deal I also got 4 extra 275/70/18 tires with lots of tread, and a set of four 20" rims with nearly new Nitto tires 275/60/20. They are purdy!! I have to clean them up tonight and stash them until spring.

As you know my truck has 3.55's which are nice. My uncle had a 5.4L truck with 3.73's and it felt much stronger.

I'm definitely loving this truck. The cap/bed is bigger than my freshman year dorm room...

Looks great Ron....did u test drive any trucks like thAt but 99-04 with the leaf spring front? Wondering if the ride is noticably better.

I am looking for a long bed crew or supercab myself.

Thanks John - I did not drive a pre-2005 model, but back in the day a buddy of mine did drive new ( leftover ) 2004's and 2005's, and he said the difference was huge, in favor of the 2005.

Thanks 1320, Sean, Kev, and Darren. I can't wait for spring so I can put the GT on the trailer just to take some photos with the truck.

Thanks PJ - I picked up a 16 ft open trailer last fall. Taking my Father-in-law's Studebaker to a meet in Delaware this year, so I'm looking forward to testing out the new rig.

The F250 has been great since I bought it back in December. I made my first trip pulling my trailer a few weeks ago and the 5.4 did surprisingly well with my '66 shell on the trailer and the entire '66 drivetrain in the bed. It didn't feel any slower than it does without the trailer. Power was pretty decent on the highway, with no problems keeping up with traffic.

On the way home, the steering began to feel a little loose, and the next day it got even worse. It got so bad ( I could turn the steering wheel 180 degrees without the wheels turning ) that I had to have AAA flatbed it home Monday night. The culprit - a bad steering box. So a new one is on the way - for about $360 - OUCH! Hopefully everything goes well with the install after it arrives on Thursday.
