2003-2004 Mach 1 - is the manual transmission the same as GT transmission ?

I've started looking at '03-04 Mach 1's and have come across multiple cars that owners / dealers have said that their car needed atleast 1/some multiple transmission synchronizers. My questions are :

    1. Are the manual transmissions in the Mach 1's the same transmissions as are in the same years GT's ?
    2. Are synchronizers common problems with these cars ?
    3. Any current / past Mach 1 owners on here - are there any other items of concerns with these cars ?

In the Mustangs I've had - I kind of have skipped over the '96-04 generation so I'm not real familiar with problems common to these cars. I've owned typically fox-body and '05+ cars. Any assistance would be appreciated.

3650 was the 5 speed of choice in GT/Mach1. The 3650 had been fixed by 03-04 of the issues that plagued it when it first came out in late '01. Really most issues come back to driving style. Improper adjustment of clutches, forcing it into gear.

If it looks good, you'll see it. If it sounds good, you'll hear it. If it's marketed right, you'll buy it. But if it's real, you'll feel it. IG: @donuttrump

I believe the Mach 1s and GTs did share the same transmission.

I do not think they have any widely known issues. I would just check the usual stuff and look up any recalls or TSBs that they had and check for those things.

Yeah I'm almost 100% sure they share the same manual transmission. However i think they had a stronger clutch/flywheel? I could be wrong.

All I know is that 95,000 mile 04 Mach 1 I had was strong monster. The shaker hood on the car is honestly addicting to look at while driving too. lol

Thanks 89stang for the heads up. I had seen that one on craigslist but was only wishing it was closer at that price. There is a really nice comp orange one in Altoona but it has bad trans synchronizers and a bad tap in the motor which I have also come to find is a common problem with the Mach's.

Wow - seems like a good deal at $11k for that Mach - nice low miles!

We had a red Mach like that at the PVGP last year - except it had a set of retro-looking 17"? Magnum 500 rims - it was gorgeous!

That is a killer deal for sure. I'd jump on that if I was looking for one as long as the title is clean. The transmission in my Mach 1 is kinda loud but everyone says it's a common thing and mine only has 12k on the clock. I kinda like it. I sounds like a muscle car should lol. No issues besides that here. I do hear a lot of people complain about it on other forums though.

I'm telling you, shaker hood = addicting.

The Mach listed on the craigslist ad above is an r title car. I'm guessing that explains the pricing a little

R-titles don't scare me. All depends on the severity of the damage and the quality of the repairs. Sometimes a car is stolen and not recovered quickly - and the insurance company totals the car and settles the claim with the insured. Then the car is recovered - sometimes with little or no damage - but the title work has already been done.

R titles don't scare me either - I've bought and put back together my share of cars. My peace of mind comes from knowing who put the car back together and that it was done right. I'm guessing with it not being disclosed in the ad that it is an r title car, he's hoping people won't know or be able to find any damage that may have occured. There are def more reasons that a car can end up with an r title than accidents - but I've always been up front if I'm advertising a reconstructed title. Regardless of the quality of work to get the car back on the road, it does affect the value and I'm guessing that explains his $11,000 or best offer pricing.
