    Auto Shipping Companies

Who have you used with good results?

Did you ship to a terminal or directly to your house?

Was it through a broker or direct to a shipping company?

LOL...I didn't realize that "Nebby" was mostly a PGH term until spending some time in other states.

Anyway, i didn't buy anything yet...but am considering a 3/4 ton crew cab Ford in Montana....it's early yet.

In the past I have just dealt with a friend of my uncle who has his own flatbed. He picked up my Cavalier in Cincinnati and brought it back for $500 greenbacks. Whatever you do, don't fill out a request on a shippers website, unless you want to get flooded with calls and emails for 2 straight weeks.

If it looks good, you'll see it. If it sounds good, you'll hear it. If it's marketed right, you'll buy it. But if it's real, you'll feel it. IG: @donuttrump

    Bill,
    What made the experiences bad?
    Time to pick up?
    Time in transit?
    Price higher than quoted?
    Damage to vehicle?

    What companies did you use?

    Thanks for the help.

My worst experience was with Reliable Carriers. They were supposed to be number one in the business. Lol. What a joke . At one point I didn't know where my two cars were. Then I come to find out the 68 goat has 3 miles more on it . They took it off the semi and put it in a garage cause the truck broke down . No calls or anything . Showed up three days late . 3500 for two cars . Oregon to Pittsburgh. Then the company who delivered the 360 to Arizona killed the battery and scrached the entire front lip taking the car on and off as they loaded up across the country . Those are just two of my stories . I could go on and on .

So I know the cars were insured by the carriers....did they follow through with the 360? I'd be jacked if my car had been driven by someone else even if it were 3 miles! Wow.

    John,

I shipped both my Bab cobra and notch out of state. I got a number from the guy that bought the notch for the person he used. Average pricing, but he always had good luck. Shoot me a txt if you want the number and ill send you it.

From what I've learned, you never want to give a deposit before the car is picked up or the company can easily string you along till they decide to get it to you via the cheapest driver. The above mentioned pricing is also very high. I got a price of $500 open trailer from TN for the C5 but decided to go with an enclosed for $700.....just to give you a reference point. These are also going through Brokers.

good info John....I haven't made a deal on anything yet...just trying to get a ball park on pricing first to factor it in. I will be in touch regardless.

The advertising on TV is such BS - We had a problem where we really got screwed by Hagerty Insurance. They were such pricks! It was so bad that my agent moved much of his collector car clients to another carrier - and saved us 40% in the process! Definitely good to go by word of mouth rather than what you see on TV. Good luck John - I hope everything works out.
