just got home from the ER

i have been having really bad stomach pains for a week straight now...it hurts really bad and eating is very painful as well. so we did some looking on webmd and decided it is time to go see a dr NOW. so steph made me go

after 4 hours in the ER and multiple blood and tests later...i have something wrong with my gall bladder. i am being scheduled for an ultrasound to determine if i need surgery or not.

so right now im on a total crap diet...no fats, and skim milk products until after the ultrasound.

I had my gallbladder out. I had a huge stone (3 cm) and it was best to take out the whole gallbladder before the stone got stuck. I have very minimal problems with eating, as compared to before surgery, i.e. sugary stuff either makes my stomach upset or goes right through me. I love hot spicy food and I can still eat it, but sometimes I do get a little sick from it, depending on what it is. Other than small things like that, I'm fine.

My friend had her's out one month before me and she still can't eat right. She has basically become a vegetarian because of it.

Weird how different we are through the same surgery.

thanks. still in a lot of pain. they gave me vicadin but i cant take it due to having to drive 45 minutes each way to work.

Hope you feel better soon, if you have to have surgery they take out the gallbladder laproscopicaly, just a few holes. usaully stay overnite, or outpatient.

yea as long as its found early enough...which it should be...id be released 24 hours later pending no complications. there is 2 .5" cuts and one .75" cut and thats it. i just hope they get it resolved soon....kinda hoping for surgery cause this diet is gonna suck. lol

That's weird that your doc has you on a diet like that. Milk upset my stomach so I avoided it, but I could eat anything up to the day of my surgery. Mine was done outpatient, only in hospital half a day. You shouldn't have to stay overnight unless there's complications, which there shouldn't be.

You will feel 10 times better after its out though.

Uhhhh.... If its hurting that bad, why dont they do it as an emergent surgery??? Doctors

I worked in a hospital for a year and now I type medical reports at home.. and I know they can. Seriously, if you're hurting that bad, tell them you want it done.

I guess that's understandable. My doctors suggested surgery right off, but with the size of my stone, it wasnt likely I would pass it without causing more trouble.

If they do surgery, hopefully its soon, so you dont suffer.

yea actually i thought i felt better today and had some meatballs for dinner... (homemade and sooo damn good) im actually hurting really really abd right now...i think ill go take a vicadin.... im trying not to let steph know how much it hurts....just one more thing for her to worry about with all the wedding plans too.

well after taking the pain pills i was feeling better. i had to stop taking the other pill (to help me eat) cause it made my head ache and feel dizzy.

i just called and cancelled my u/s. dont want to waste money. if it starts hurting again really bad ill go back to the ER. but right now the pain is about 5/10. so i can handle that for a while.
