    96 Cobra Build Thread

I posted my build on another forum and since it is nearing completion, I decided to post some pictures here. I bought my 96 Cobra back on 11/17/12 and started tearing it down December of 2012. Here are some pictures of the progress:

    After I picked it up

Initially we were just going to repaint it but found that it was wrecked and not repaired correctly. New quarter panel was welded it.

Other misc stuff: oil pan gasket change, new clutch, subframe connectors, all new fluids: trans, rear end, motor etc. Just recently I had a ton of parts powdercoated by Dylan's Coatings in Plum. Calipers, sway bar, valve covers, plenum and coil covers to complete my COP swap and we also installed Long Tubes.

Now we are on the final stages, I am going with Black with Spirited Green Metallic race stripes.

If you want to see the full build thread, it is here.

I like it - it is different. I had a black '94 Cobra and there are LOTS of them out there. What rims are you running?

I love the color combo, but think it would look better with a) thinner stripes or b) stripes that follow the contour of the hood.

If it looks good, you'll see it. If it sounds good, you'll hear it. If it's marketed right, you'll buy it. But if it's real, you'll feel it. IG: @donuttrump

I originally was going to follow the contour of the hood but I am going to have the stripes stay within the 'COBRA' on the rear bumper as on my old v6. The stripes had to be that big to achieve that and it wouldn't look right.

BTW: The green on my old v6 was Synergy Green off the newer Camaro.

Yeah alot has happened! I'm not planning on selling them, I am going to powdercoat them and save them as a spare set. Hope everything worked out for you with the xpipe!

Well we have been real busy! Lots of wrecks coming in! Last week or so we got most of the trim pieces painted. We did the rear sail panels, rocker moldings, side vent scoops and gas door, the only trim pieces left are the front sail panels, rocker molding extension under the fender and tail light bezels. Today we got the sides all painted and tomorrow we are gonna scuff and buff it! Hopefully next week I can get all the interior back in and then just the front & back bumpers!

Yesterday we got the front & back bumpers ready for paint, filled in the scraps from the PO & holes for license plate bracket. Last night my dad sprayed the green and today we laid out the stripes! I got all the interior back in it, sound deadener in the trunk and all that is left is to undercoat it after the bumpers are back on!
