91 Fox Briefly Overheating before normal temp

Today when I started my Mustang and went <2 miles down the road I noticed my temp was about 3/4 to the max temp and steam started coming out of the hood. Then, I drove 100 yards and the temp lowered back down to normal. It remained normal during my entire 10 mile cruise. I am assuming this is due to the thermostat not opening soon enough, but wanted to see what you guys thought as I never get that lucky. This may not be related, but I have a check engine light that comes on once i reach operating temperature. I have not checked the code yet. Thanks!

The light could be a coolant temp sensor? But no way to know until you get it scanned. And my guess is thermostat/temp sensor related.

If it looks good, you'll see it. If it sounds good, you'll hear it. If it's marketed right, you'll buy it. But if it's real, you'll feel it. IG: @donuttrump
