Has anyone raced Formula series? (Vee, Ford, Continential, etc.)

I was thinking about buying a Vee and making it a weekend warrior/track toy. And also looking into making it street legal. Has anyone had experience or know someone who has owned a Formula series racer? Really contemplating selling my GT and putting time and effort into one of these things. I've been karting for a while now and just want to step it up, and I know Vee is relativity inexpensive to Ford and Continental.

I would love to get into that, like to kart first.

My dad raced Formula B and Can am in the 70s. He had a Lotus 18 then sold that and moved up to a Brabham. He raced all over the east coast and Canada, Nelson ledges, Mid Ohio etc and was a member of Steel City Region SCCA.

I have driven a Formula Ford, and it was fun, although admittedly formula cars aren't my thing. A Vee is so mind numbingly slow it will make you want to kill yourself, but if you race one you will have a ton of people to race very slowly with.

You know I've talked to Ford, Continential and Vee drivers. And both the Ford and Continential drivers said they wish they could of stuck with Vee and just slapped a turbo on it and turned it into a track toy for test n tune. Im not concerned about speed though....I like the pullin' G's in bends :) How was the Ford though? Always wanted to drive one of those or a Star Mazda

Make sure you have good brakes dude...You will easily melt pads on the back straight. You will hit 110+ and then brake hard into a U-turn. It's really fun though!
